So... Skyrim's latest and possibly last big expansion was released for Xbox a few days ago. I just finished the main storyline of it, and while i admit the story itself was fun to play through, and the setting being Solstheim, the same location as an expansion for TES3: Morrowind, I found the enviroment fun to explore, though not nearly as exciting as the Shivering Isles expansion of Oblivion. That being said, once again, the ending was rather dull and quick to get over with. There was no extensive ending sequence, leaving some minor plot points unsettled. Those guys at Bethesda aren't very good at storytelling, are they? Some new armors and weapons were added, along with the option to craft Stalhrim armor and weapons. Being only slightly weaker than Dragonbone armor, you won't need 100 Smithing to craft it. (at least i don't think so). In one of the side quests you'll also find a unique weapon that shoots energy blasts. Not too powerful, but fun to use anyway. Some new dragon shouts have been added as well, one of them being my new favorite shout, Dragon Aspect, which is the Elder Scrolls equivalent of going Super-Saiyan. There's another shout that allows you to tame and fly on a dragon's back, which unfortunately isn't as useful or exciting as it sounds... Overall, i'd say it's worth a nice 7.5/10
Yes I will agree the dragon riding was more of a promotional thing.. Kind of how they display burgers in menus, but when you actually get your order it's all sloppy and mediocre. Like most of Bethesta's DLC they make it worthwhile most times. I enjoyed reading your mini-review, It was somewhat like the dawnguard DLC... I'm sure there will be more to come, hopefully it will get even better? Keep up the posts, and explain more about your experiences. They are delightful to read! Thank you Rarit E. ^ 3^/)
yeah Thanks Rarity giveing us a heads up on what to expect. I am all excited about it being in solstheim. That's how bethesda writes, they like it vauge
I like this DLC, but I've been disappointed with the storyline in both Dawnguard and Dragonborn. Truthfully, I'd like a DLC with more climactic buildup, because I feel as if that was what made some of the Guild questlines so intense. I hear vague rumors that we'll be getting a DLC for Skyrim which involves the High King (whose identity is determined by the Stormcloak/Imperial questline) and fighting the Thalmor. If that's the case, then imagine the storytelling potential! I can only hope that Bethesda does that questline the way they did the main Skyrim questline. Seriously, though Solstheim may be fun to explore, you show up there and it's basically like this: "Yeah there's this guy named Mirak. He's supposed to be dead but he's not. Dunno why. You should kill him. He's a bad guy. You killed him? Great."
The Bloodmoon expansion for Morrowind was one of the best add-ons ever made. I spent countless hours exploring the island of Solstheim, and enjoyed every minute of it. I knew things wouldn't be the same, but... seeing my beloved Raven Rock home destroyed was almost too much to bear.
