Now that is just outrageous. Hasbro is going in all the wrong directions, copyright banning the Friendship is Witchcraft videos, Alicorn Twilight, and now this. Who knows now, next they might just copyright ban the .MOV videos and try stopping the brony conventions.
Well...I think I'm going to veto ponies for a while. Hasbro has gone too far this time. Derpy Hooves was bad enough. They smashed a developments team's work. Over a full year of it. Developing games is not easy. I know this, even for a 2D game. You have to sprite, make music, design backgrounds, and have a storyboard going. On top of that comes the coding. This on top of the rise in clop...well, let's just say I never thought ponies would make me angry. Hasbro just downright pisses me off.
The "rise" in clop? *snicker* I'm very curious about what you're referring to and why it somehow makes you angry...
To charity? Even if the game devs were raising money for charity for people in need... just... for shame, Hasbro. For shame.
I found this on the interwebs, wanted to repost it here. A little bit of silver lining to all this. I liked it anyway :3
I want to add that in the blog Mane6 had posted, they are engaged in attempts to negotiate with Hasbro on the terms of the development of Fighting is Magic (although, they had not been given an answer at the time the blog was posted). Yes, it was C&D'd, but there is no guarantee that that won't change in the future. Who knows - maybe a licensing agreement may happen with it like it did with the Double Rainboom project. There's no guarantees either way, but I don't want to get anyone's hopes up too far.
meh... Faust; All praise and glory to you, fearless leader. Hasbro; Buck off. Mane6; Finish the game in secret. Anonymity on the internet is a thing, take advantage of it. Fight the power. /)
Um, the first bit I agree with, but all the stuff about bronies seems...over the top. We're just ordinary people, we're not doing something that hasn't already been done before i.e. challenging gender stereotypes by watching a TV show, and that's not a bad thing. "We all bleed together, and I'm proud to bleed proud Brony blood with you all." I...er...I know he's being metaphorical, but isn't that way too dramatic for what is a fanbase of a TV show?
Back when the fanbase was young, pretty much everyone was that...dramatic. Most people thought of it as much more than a simple TV show. Some still do. Anyway, it's the thought that counts, I thought it was nice.
Personally, I think it is a little dramatic - but that's the point. The person who made this is definitely setting their eyes to the sky and making the most out this show and what has come out of it. Encouraging words and goals are golden.
A lot of people in the gaming world were upset over this. And I don't just mean Bronies. They may not get the Brony thing, but they do get the passion and dedication that was devoted to this project. I say finish the game and release it anonymously on the internet. Seems a shame to let all of that work go to waste.
I don't think that's going to happen I just hope that Welcome To Ponyville isn't next to be given a Cease and Desist letter that would be "the worst possible thing."
