So, Good News: Saved, New Characters and Settings Bad:Lauren Faust is working for them, No Old Characters or settings Seems about right to me. Good thing that its back up, I now have another hobby. Although this whole Faust thing wants to play it less.
From a concept standpoint this is good news. From a development one, expect to wait another 6 months.
This.^^^ I love her work, it's just annoying when the fandom accredits her with everything. That's why I'm not too thrilled about this. Now, instead of saying, "The Mane6 did a good job!" The fandom will say, "The almighty lord and savior Lauren Faust did a wonderful job!"
Fun fact: MikeZ, one of the designers behind Skullgirls has offered Mane6 to use the Skullgirls engine for Fighting Is Magic.
A new post from Mane6, where they briefly explain the situation regarding the usage of the Skullgirls engine. http://www.mane6.com/2013/03/skullgirls-engine-and-games-future.html
fighting is magic. what happened? what happened to fighting is magic? is the game still going to be made?I know that hasbro tried to put a stop to it but will the team finish it anyway or maybe will there be another team or something working on it anyway?
There was another thread posted about this. The game is still being made, but it is no longer MLP related. Also, Lauren Faust joined the development team.
Mane6 was hit with a C&D (Cease and Desist) order. There wasn't any legal wriggle room, and because they (thankfully) didn't want to give up, they chose to scrap the Friendship is Magic theme and keep going. Lauren Faust extended her skills to help develop all new characters they could use for their new theme, and so it wouldn't deviate too far from the spirit of what they were modeling it after. More recently, Mike "Mike Z" Zaimont of LabZero and Skullgirls has offered them the Skullgirls engine to rebuild their game off of. This provides a substantial amount of new features and potential for the game. It's currently hinging on a donation drive for Skullgirls itself, where if they meet their mark then Mane6 gets the engine free. Silhouettes of three of the new characters were posted on the Mane6 website. While they don't necessarily have to start over with the game, they have to redo much of artwork as well as learn Skullgirls's game engine, but they already know what they want to do and have a lot more insight into building the game than they did previously.
basicly what im wondering is will we even get to have an applejack vs rainbow dash on pinkie vs rarity type thing going at all or are the mlp characters no longer even going into the game?. either way im sure its going to be great but without the original characters that made me interested in the project it will lose alot of its appeal till i see what tthey have added
Ridley's right there's already a thread about this topic go right here. http://www.everypony.com/forums/showthread.php?10256-Fighting-Is-Magic-LIVES!/page1
Bro, it's still Fighting Is Magic. Don't stop supporting it just because it'll no longer have Ponies. Seriously, if you were a fan of this just because it had Ponies in it, then you weren't a fan at all.
