So Sucker Punch continues it's seemingly ended Infamous franchise with another game called Infamous: Second Son. As the title implies, this game revolves around a new main character, but considering the ending of Infamous 2, how could the franchise even continue? It takes place 7 years after Infamous 2. So that would mean that the game's "Evil ending" is the canon storyline, contrary to popular belief. Personally, i'd be overjoyed if it was. Let's talk about why. Cole McGrath is the main character of Infamous so far. The player can choose wether Cole becomes good or evil, but which Cole is canonically speaking the real one? At the start of the first game, he was labeled a terrorist and nicknamed "The Demon of Empire City". By nature, Cole isn't exactly a "goody two shoes" even when you want him to be. His general disposition makes him far more suitable as a bad guy. You'll also notice that in both games when Cole maximizes his karmic level on the evil side, his rank is called "Infamous" which hints at the game's title. Spoiler: Infamous 1 spoilers Kessler, the first game's antagonist, who is generally evil despite his good intentions, is actually Cole McGrath from the future who travelled back in time to cause the events that lead to him getting his powers. He also tortures Cole mentally to toughen him up for the events of the second game. My theory is that evil Cole McGrath is the game's canon storyline, and I couldn't be happier if i was right and Second Son continues this storyline. For those interested, here's the endings of Infamous 2 on both sides: Spoiler
It's actually been confirmed that Cole's good ending is canon, which at first dorsn't make much sense given what happened to all Conduits but maybe there were some immune ones? http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/05/07/new-details-emerge-for-ps4s-infamous-second-son Anyway, the article says that it takes placr in an actual city and that Delsin controls smoke. Sounds interesting, but I need to see actual gameplay.
From how they described how Delsin got his powers it doesn't look like a ray sphere was involved either. Anyway, since this game is intended for the PS4 it'll probably be a while before this gets any updates. The good thing is, this game will probably be one of the first games to be released for PS4.
Yep, it's a launch title! It'll be interesting to see the smoke powers, especially to see how the PS4 renders smoke and particle effects. ^^
Smoke seems kinda lame and he had better not at any point say "where there's smoke there's fire" What would evil smoke or good smoke even look like. Maybe they are ditching the crappy choice system and adding in real choices.
I've never played Infamous 1 or 2 so i'll have to play both of those games first before I play Second Son.
I agree that in Infamous 2 it was a bit ridiculous with those over-the-top comic book style depictions of good and evil, but Infamous 1 handled it pretty good. And yes, it'll be back. They did say he may get more than just smoke, so i'd say fire is a most likely addition to his skill set. I can't imagine smoke being used for some kind of offensive attack, anyway.
Handled it pretty WELL... Sorry had to get my grammar nazi out but on topic. I'm interested to see how they change things and incorporate new powers.
They better have a power that's as satisfying as that ice launcher in Infamous 2. Running to the edge of a rooftop and having a pillar pf ice come up from beneath you to send you airbourne was wonderful. The evil black goopy powers though, were very underwhelming.
It was a "dash" I can't really call it a dash since it carried no momentum. I also want the Sly staff to be back and usable.
story wise anyway it still all sucked because all the best powers were reserved for only biggest jerks or biggest saints. makeing all the choices meannigless. it was just one choice from the very begining, is this the good guy run or the bad guy run. it also sucks in that the main character has no personality because the game has to be flexible enough that if either your a good guy or a bad guy the same set of events have to happen. I still had a ton of fun though with them that's all that really matters in the end though, and i'm pretty excited for second son.
Well, this was released during the Sony conference at E3: As i thought they would, Delsin's powers seem to be extremely similar to Nix of Infamous 2. (Not that it's a bad thing)
Here's some actual gameplay I'm wet with anticipation! :Boo:
