One even better. The freaking xbone won't work on launch without a day one patch. Like for real, a console on launch day requires a patch to work. God damn Microsoft, just how bad are you.

The systems were already rolled out after MS had that "epiphany" and said "Okay we'll undo all the bad things" so the OS needs to be patched to function with the new policies. They can change all they want on the servers they run without directly effecting us, but the receiving end (consoles) needs to understand the new instruction to work. When the next new batch of systems roll out of production, the patch would become included into the OS. So to be fair, there is no other way to do that, except not make horribad decisions in the first place.

Thought of what, not making horrible decisions? Psh, this is M$ we're talking about! The creators of all things wonderful, like Windows! :Trollestia:

I completely agree though, it's a bit of an inconvenience that should not need to happen in the first place. But hey, what can you do, the video game industry as a whole is and has been essentially ****ed beyond repair with no return .

I can understand a few thoughts like that being made, but the amount Microsoft made is beyond belief. Why I thought anyone would like these ideas is beyond me. I'm guessing they didn't think people would complain, not like they have to worry because people would still buy it anyway.

Yes, I think most of it was MS relying on blind faith. There is no way any of their employees, programmers and engineers could have thought practices and policies like that were good ideas. The higher ups, no doubt, because we all know they're completely moronic. They've got so many dollar signs in their eyes to see the how stupid they make themselves look. We'll only see these sort of practices getting worse though until we really have no choice when all the media corporations agree to it.

Linear leveling systems found in most RPGs, even "modern" ones. Things like the sphere grid, license board and Crystarium from FFX, XII and XIII, respectively, are an unnecessary tedium that only adds pointless busywork to what used to be an automatic thing. They give the player an illusion of choice, when in reality, they're every bit as linear as before...only here, you get the privilege of wasting your time. Bottom line, either keep linear leveling systems automatic, or make a system that's more involved - I'm sure you'll get a few ideas for innovative systems by playing actual tabletop RPGs.
