With the multiple unneeded updates and much disliked Google+ intergration. As well as the even more recent Copyright issue occurring amongst the gaming community and causing them to transfer to Twitch. Do you think YouTube is slowly dying or do you think there's still hope for it in the future.

personally I feel that it is on its last legs at least for the gaming side of it. I also feel that Twitch will grow in size and activity as time goes on. So what do you think?

Youtube started going downhill ever since Google wrapped it's greasy fingers around it.

It's definitely got a foot in the grave at this point. I don't know that the recent BS concerning the revised comment system will necessarily be the final nail in YT's coffin, but if this copyright thing snowballs into an issue that threatens gaming channels all across the site (gaming channels, I might add, being one of the most successful types), it could definitely spell doom for the once great community. I really hope it doesn't come to that, but the more bad decisions big brother Google makes, the more likely such a future seems.

Correct me if I'm wrong on all of this, but isn't Twitch a streaming site? Users can't upload videos of their plays; they can only stream and record unedited videos.
Also, though not strictly, it's used for gaming. I'm not always looking for gaming. Sometimes I want to listen to some musicians' recorded music, not live editing and dj-ing, or maybe somebody's awesome special fx video.

Unfortunately, Youtube has had the monopoly, so I don't know of many alternatives.

Oh yeah, and Google is still trying harder to take over our personal lives. Why the heck would I want to use my real name online? :DFH:

You are correct, as the youtubers are moving over to stream more often rather than post videos

YouTube Facebook Google Yahoo Tumblr etc. are always dying. They are perpetually dying, yet always alive. Like Schrödinger's cat. It will never die, no matter how bad it gets.

On that note, I got an email today because I was one of the first 20% of people to see the video of the guy doing Miley Cyrus's "wrecking ball" on Omegle... wtf. Please don't remind me I laughed at that. I don't want to remember.

I would like to be the nerd who blasts you on that terrible comparison to Schrödinger's cat. In the thought experiment, the cat was not perpetually dying, it's both dead and alive based on a random event and the fact that we cannot observe it until we open the box. Schrödinger's cat is completely unrelated to Youtube.
The websites you stated aren't necessarily dying. While I would agree with a claim that they aren't growing, they aren't necessarily dying.
Facebook, Google (excluding Youtube), and Tumblr appear to be in a sustained area, neither growing nor dying (not both).
Youtube, on the other hand, is just poisoning itself. It's health is draining, but not "perpetually dying". It has had it's period of growth and period of sustenance, and now, a period of decline. Who knows if it has a future period of growth and recovery from this? (Though, I'm pessimistic on this question.)
Yahoo is dying because they can't attract people from the monopoly of Google. This is the only one I would believe a claim that it's a "purgatory-like" state.

I hope I didn't come off as a jerk, but can everyone please do a bit more research before making a comparison of anything to unrelated science?
(Example: Use of "opposites attract" (from magnetism) in love and relationships. Utter boloney. Tell me how much that actually happens.)

Everytime Facebook and Tumblr update, people complain that it's the death of the websites. And google is just kind of consistently killing everything they own (except chrome and their search engine) And with Schrodinger's cat, I admit it wasn't the best comparison, but I'm almost completely certain there is no better comparison.

True that people always complain about updates... to me, it's more of an idea of decline than what's actually happening. People have been able to cope with Youtube's previous updates, with some actually being good (in my opinion) despite the dissent.
The Youtube Content-ID problems with gamers, though, has not been helpful. It's going to drive away much of the gamer population.

This was a good video I found on recent and upcoming changes to Youtube.

Youtube started going downhill when they added commercials.

The commercials wouldn't be so bad if they were at least relevant to the interests of the viewers. 9 times out of 10, I would get ads that tried to sell me a minivan...yeah, just what a college student with no children needs, right? One would think YT's mechanics would be smart enough to determine which ads to show you based on the type of videos you watch, but until that time comes, I'm an unashamed user of AdBlock.

I've never seen a commercial on youtube. Or hulu, or any other video/site for that matter. Adblock ftw.

My big issue with youtube is how they're trying to cram google+ down our throats. Since I don't have a Google+ profile, youtube won't even let me comment anymore >.>

Google will certainly kill youtube with this new approval thing they want to do in 2014. It seems that videos won't be able to monetized unless the uploader owns everything in the video. So LPers, reviews and the like will get no money. Not like a good portion of most youtubers fanbases don't already block ads, thus robbing them of a paycheck, but that's a different point all together. Anyway it'll be interesting if they remove the ability for LPers to make money from playing games cause it will crush pewdiepie's channel. I wonder how that fanbase will react.

Honestly it doesn't really bother me either way as I don't typically comment on videos or operate a channel for anything other than saving favorites. But the new integration of Google plus is definitely a hassle and annoyance for a lot of people to deal with. I wouldn't say YT is dying or anything, but it's losing it's way rather quick.

What does bother me is how stupid people get famous so easily and how LPers and other lame shows get such hype. Actual good content you really gotta hunt for.

As unpopular as such an opinion probably is, I agree. Why watch other dudes play a game that you could be playing yourself? I can understand wanting to watch LPers who actually have a ton of personality and are able to comedically riff on the games they're playing, but I find the majority of them are vapid and boring. Or even outright obnoxious, especially considering there seems to be a prevailing opinion among LPers that 'screaming into the microphone' = 'funny'. And honestly, I could even tolerate that IF the guys ever bothered to use a freakin' limiter to prevent eardrum-shattering clipping. :DFH:

To each his own, I guess, but if the possible demonetization of LPs means putting guys like PewDiePie in the crapper, I honestly wouldn't care.

I just love how people from a fandom known to get a lot of flak at times have no problem dishing out the same to other fandoms. It's heartwarming, really.

On the subject of YouTube, now that I'm not even able to write comments anymore without having to create a Google+ account first, I'm inclined to agree.
