I don't think Microsoft abandoning the console market would lead to PS4's dominance, I feel if Microsoft left the console industry, PS would just, die. I don't think the Playstation could survive without another console to compete with; those consoles depend on each other to keep themselves afloat, I don't see a console market with only one console. If the PS was left as the only console on the market, I feel that would cause everything to shift over to PC gaming more rapidly than it's going to now.
Indeed! I don't really know what would have happened if Microsoft or Sony wouldn't have entered the console market in the 90's. On Icons (about 10 years ago by now) a industry worker said that the game industry wouldn't be as large without Sony. But, he did work so Sony, so that might explain that little insight into Sony's story . I don't feel the game industry would be worse if Sony or Microsoft didn't make a competitor console to the other's; I suspect console gaming would have been weakened earlier, and the gaming industry would be much more evolved on the path PC gaming is on, rather than PC gaming being backseat in view from consoles for 15 years.
EA and Activision. they've ruined the state of gaming in the last 5 years with nothing to new offer. Take EA recently year... they released Dead space 3 and completely changed the core features of the game and killed it. Sim city which was a HUGE faluire on EA's behalf and is a fine example of why Always-Online games aren't good. Battlefield 4 which is littered with bugs and another terrible campaign. FIFA 14 which, again is full of bugs. Peggle 2 which was hugely disappointing. the list goes on. As for the console debate, I think the market is really going to change in a few years. Mobile gaming is becoming more dominant and is causing console makers to cater to that audience by watering down games. plus Steam is making a big push to bring PC games to the living room with the Steam box which should cater for those who want a streamlined way to play. Lastly, the Oculus Rift could effectively revolutionize the way we play. Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo and Steam will all still be around in 5+ years but I cant say how they'll fit in with all these emerging technology's. I dont think the tradition console will be enough Next-Gen because the trends are pointing towards Digital, on the move games with are easily integrated with social networks and compatible across multiple devices.
EA => Cause what they touch, it turns in rotting piece of maggot infested flesh Bethesta => Cause they Ruined fallout and couldn't write a good quest for the hell of it Activision => cause COD basically destroyed FPS-es and they ruined Spyro That's the big 3, there are more, however.
I'm actually more disappointed about Skyrim than i was about Fallout 3. Main and secondary quest storylines were crap, especially the endings. The voice acting was less than mediocre. And don't even get me started on the glitches... You know Bethesda, if you're gonna make a forum for technical difficulties and glitch reports, why don't you actually FIX THEM? That said, Not all hope is lost for Bethesda. Dishonored was pretty damn good.
Skyrim was a pile of crap. Only thing that did good was to pretend it was an RPG so all guys and gamer gurls could think they are nerdy for playing ''an RPG'' Cuz, you know, nerdy is cool today. Also, Bethesda only published Dishonored. That game was made by Arcane, guys that did dark Messiah Of Might And Magic and Arx Fatalis.
Still, you can't ignore the similarities. Dishonored gameplay = Elder Scrolls stealth gameplay done right.
Skyrim actually was worth buying and playing through regardless of the issues I mentioned. It's just that most people don't want to admit that Skyrim is far from the perfect gem it was hyped up to be. That doesn't mean Bethesda should stop making games. Actually not at all. I still enjoy their games far more than i would enjoy any of the crap that EA keeps force-feeding us.
Actually, Bethesda has been very good about fixing bugs in Skyrim. Their last official patch not only fixed dozens of minor issues, but also added a new difficulty setting and removed the level cap. For a game that's been out for so long, I'd say it's pretty impressive that they're still willing to find ways to make it better.
Eh. Nobody's perfect. I won't even pretend that Skyrim is without bugs. I've just been playing it long to know what they are, and how to avoid them.
It wouldn't be a Bethesda game if it wasn't humongous in scope, and a fun little wibbly-wobbly, buggy-wuggy mess. <3
that's why you try for the pc version. after playing a modded Skyrim I don't think I could get another Bethesda game close to release.
Rockstar can have all my money. I spent 6 hours in the cold wind and rain waiting for the midnight release of GTA5.
