First of all, as a person who has played a Wii U and someone who has a PS4 for work purposes. The Wii U is an amazing piece of hardware, the reason why most games the Americans are wanting aren't on the Wii U is because WiiU gave EA the finger in regards to Origin http://wiiudaily.com/2012/08/ea-origin-wii-u/ So nintendo has not had a mainframe of US titles. That being said my favorite console games (Besides the one I work on) happen to be WiiU titles. Zombi U and Monster Hunter are amaaing. The Wii U also made Deus Ex: Human Revolution a spectacle being able to hack and look around at the same time. And most people I've ever talked to have bashed the Wii U without ever trying it. Now in regards to the Ps3.... There is a better consloe out there then the ps3, it's called the ps4
Exactly. If a majority of people decide not to buy any of Nintendo's new IPs, then it's Nintendo's fault for not making them interesting or appealing enough. You can't blame people for not buying something they don't care about.
Again, why does it matter? Does it forbid anyone from having an opinion? Besides, i have no particular hate for Nintendo.
Just because they advertised it doesn't mean people are going to like it. And they don't buy what they don't like. Advertising isn't the problem.
Every business tries to do just that. It's called marketing. Knowing your userbase and then building hype. Which Nintendo has been failing to do for the entirety of the Wii U's release. Many people still think the Wii U is just an expansion. Why? Their adverts, marketing strategies and ..."commercials" are absolutely cringe worth and fail to deliver the interest and information needed to push the market. They're underselling the platform with crap like this. And as a result, third party devs have basically abandoned the platform for Xbox, PS4 and other systems. It is not so much to do with IF people will be interested it's HOW the product will be presented to win them over. It's all in the analytics.
If I remember correctly, in the very first post I did to this thread ended with "PC Master Race". Which makes me as much of a fan for Nintendo as one for Sony and Microsoft. Fortunately for the three companies, if they have enough exclusives (hostages) for their consoles that I want to play, then I'll buy. I'd say we're not fanboys who will buy it just because Nintendo slapped their seal of approval across it. I'm not too fond of the name Wii U, thought they were joking when it was announced, though it might be better than Xbone. Then they better get to work on consumer surveys and polls, otherwise they'll just keep losing profits. Wait, this is new to me, you don't even need a tv? It's a fracking handheld not a console. (Has gone into a laughing fit) No wonder Nintendo is having problems, they're competing against themselves and it seems the 3DS will win just because of Pokemon. I'm having mixed feelings over this, being able to switch from console to handheld is a neat feature that if I were younger would have been helpful, however I had my own tv eventually so it kind of resolved itself. Certainly a feature over the novelty 3D on my 3DS.
Aye, and losing profits is like a hemorrhage that doesn't stop, hence my ambulance joke. If you keep this up, we might just come full circle with an explanation of all of my jokes and snide remarks.
It's a combination of both actually. And the SDK is apparently constantly changing and hard to work with, from what I've heard. But either way you want to cut it, the market share is so small that it's not worth their time.
Again, that's Nintendo's fault. And it's another reason for why people don't tend to buy the Wii U as a first-choice console. For a Playstation or Xbox, they might actually buy one of the more average or less popular games because at least they'll still look good. But given the Wii U's capacities, whatever game they'd want to buy for it would have to be a genuine masterpiece in order to stand out enough to be sold in large enough numbers to make profit. And considering that the third party devs don't like the Wii U because it's underpowered, the only thing Nintendo has going for themselves is their own exclusive games, and there are only a very small amount of genuine masterpieces among them. And for gods sake, please stop asking questions no one knows the answer to.
It would be surprising if they could get a game from Team Ico or Thatgamecompany, a game that's similar to Shadow of the Colossus or Journey would be pretty cool for the Wii U. I don't know, they've hardly taken a hit to the profits to warrant bankruptcy so I'm sure they'll keep making stuff. Would kind of depend on how stubborn they are and how confident the next console feels.
