How would you react if Nintendo put their games on other systems? I think it would feel weird.

The only way I see that happening is if Sony and Microsoft dominated the console market and forced Nintendo to drop out, much the same way that Nintendo and Sony forced Sega to drop out. So I suppose I'd feel a mix of surreality, sadness and irony: Sega drops out, has to develop games for its biggest former competitor; years later, Nintendo drops out, has to develop games for its biggest former competitor(s).

But hey, as long as my favorite Nintendo franchises don't die out entirely, I wouldn't care one way or the other.

If Nintendo dropped out, we would likely witness an even greater console between Playstation lovers and Xbox lovers than ever before.
I'd rather not see the apocalypse unfold.

If Nintendo licensed their IPs to be published for other consoles and stopped making their own console they would lose a lot of their casual market given they would need to purchase more expensive equipment to play. But for people who bought a next-gen console might benefit if they enjoyed Nintendo games as well. But it's a lesser audience. It's common theory that the games would become worse and worse until they fall too far into the background and will not keep pace with the competition and blockbuster titles. Casual players are what drive Nintendo's market.

Someone should consider making a "General Nintendo News" thread, might cut down on excessive new threads.

Neither. All I'm saying is I think it would not be a very smart move.

You know, the people who say Nintendo should put games on smartphones don't realize that would cannibalize their handhelds.

It's not going to happen, so I will never have to react to it.

That's kind of irrelevant to the topic at hand. Did you mean to post this in one of your many other Nintendo threads? Namely, the one about Nintendo demos on smartphones?

As a Nintendo fanboy for over 10 years, I would probably get angry, write angry letters online, throw things, and cry in the shower.
Then I'll play Mario or Zelda on an Xbox and be completely cool with it.

It would probably be the end of me gaming.

I'm not necessarily a Nintendo fangirl, or anything (I own a couple of Sony systems, and love them). It's just that if Nintendo stopped making consoles, it would be quite an issue for me. Nintendo consoles are always my first purchase, because I know if I get a Nintendo console, I am guaranteed a wide array of first party titles to enjoy for years to come.

If Nintendo went third party, I would no longer have that obvious console choice. Playing Nintendo games would inevitably become so much harder. One game would become exclusive to one console, while another would become exclusive to another (just look at Sega and Sonic games). On top of that, Nintendo would inevitably become a shell of its former self. They would have a lot less control over their games. They would become a 'lesser' company. Series like SSB would become something different, for example.

Nintendo is the only console maker I can buy a console and know that there will always be games for me. A person who does not like much violence in their games. While the other consoles do have a number of intriguing titles to fit that description, they're very far and few in between the countless violent games that they're known for. Nintendo is the only one of their own kind. If they're gone, so am I.

However, with all of that said, I am not worried. Nintendo has succeeded through a real console failure (the Virtual Boy), the Wii U is nothing in comparison. People just like to make a big deal out of little.

My reaction if it were to happen: Eh.

I don't really know if it would matter to me as long as no franchises of Nintendo would be ruined with garbage games like how the past has shown us with another company. *Stares intently at Sega* Also, it just doesn't bother me if I'd need to switch consoles to play some Mario, and vice versa.

    So yeah, eh...
