So, there's going to be a new Sonic game either this year or next. It's called Sonic Boom, and it will be Nintendo exclusive. What's really got people talking, though, is the fact that the game is a "reimagining" of Sonic, complete with new character designs. Here are the designs in question: http://sickr.files.wordpress.com/2014/02/sonic_boom_characters.jpg Some people have been complaining about Knuckles's design, but I actually like it. The bandages make him look like a boxer, which fits his character.
Many times i called Sonic a dying franchise, but now they're not just beating a dead horse. They're digging up the bones of a horse that died 500 years ago and they're beating it with the bones of a dead horse that died even longer ago. The CGI series? 1 season maximum, or cancelled sooner. The game? Won't be more than a 6/10, and that's pushing it. I'm guessing it'll be around 3-4/10. The chance that they can actually beat this dead horse back to life and prove me wrong? 15%
I'm actually looking forward to this. The redesigns don't bother me at all, and the game's being handled by some industry vets that have put out some really good stuff in the past.
Care to back that statement up? I'm interested as well, but I don't follow "big industry" names. What has this new partner done so well in the past?
The developer of Sonic Boom goes by the name Big Red Button Entertainment, and they consist of veteran game designers that have worked on games such as the first 3 entries in the Crash Bandicoot series, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, and Jak and Daxter.
-Amy is dressed better suited to be running around and beating things with a hammer. GJ Amy. -Knuckles actually looks like a guy with the personality Knuckles has. Plus his hands are bandaged like a smart person who punches EVERYTHING should have. -Sonic's wearing bandages on his ankles to prevent them from getting crushed from going nearly the speed of sound (not very effective, but better than nothing) and actually looks like someone who runs with long legs. -Tails is actually ready for when they break into eggman's base and he needs to take apart the big computer. -Eggman is trying to become a real villain. He's finally decided to stop sitting on his arse and start working himself as opposed to just sitting around letting his fail-bots do all the work. That's why he isn't an egg shape anymore, and he's keeping the name because when you spend 10+ years calling yourself something, it's kind of hard to stop calling yourself that. That is all.
You can't deny Michael Bay's genius! It was his brilliant decision to make the Transformers movies all about Shia Labeouf! After all, who doesn't go to a movie about giant alien robots to see some guy whine about his personal life?
I'm not saying whether its good or bad. I'm just saying what's going on. Everyone can say its good or bad. But that's why they're doing the designs the way they are. Regardless of whether its good or bad.
Did they do Jak and Daxter? That really has my interest now. Which Jak and Daxter games? I've played all four that were made for the PS2 (unless a fifth one came out for it, which I doubt. I was incredibly surprised by the fourth one since the PS3 had been out for quite some time). The first two were great, the third one was alright, and I don't remember much from the fourth one, other than there being more open flying than in previous games.
Knuckles terrifies me. Otherwise, Sonic has a nice scarf (It works weirdly well), Amy doesn't seem so focussed on Sonic any more (which means perhaps some personality can be squeezed into her), and Tails is... Tails. He has a belt and goggles, which really doesn't surprise me, all things considered. I'm not really complaining about Eggman either right now. But Knuckles was my favourite character... *Cries*
People are complaining about Knuckles' design, but think about it. He chucks boulders and carries gigantic emeralds around. I think he'd be pretty built from that.
