So as I'm starting my 4th play through from the first mass effect and with the fourth incarnation coming along on the horizon. I thought I'd create this thread to allow people to share their opinions and stories about mass effect while also using it as a thread to keep people and allow people to share and update everyone on the latest news on the development on mass effect 4. Aka the first mass effect game without shephard. So I only got this game back in august last year by buying the complete trilogy pre-owned for £18 and my entire playthrough of all three games lasted all of my summer holiday. In the first playthrough I started as a soldier but now I am more inclined towards vanguard. Due to its combat/biotic combo. So what about you.
This topic brought the existence of ME4 to my attention. Now I'm optimistic. Making it not focused on Shepard, they can go so many places with this. Spoiler: My hopes, and ME spoilers I'd like for ME4 to take place not long after ME3 (like a few years to a few decades, maybe). Depending on your actions in the first 3 games and if Shepard survived at the end, there could be dialogue or some other mention of Shepard's fate in the 4th one. Examples of this could include: 1. If he died, there's a memorial honoring the hero of the universe somewhere in the capital of whatever the universe's seat is (likely on Earth since that's the only habitable planet in range, thanks to the Mass Relays being destroyed). 2. If Shepard lived, he could be the guy who trains new recruits or something. Not playable, but still there. That, or we hear some dialogue or read some document (preferably the former) talking about him retiring with whichever person he ended up with in ME3. Something for closure, you know? As for the actual game itself, I could see it starring a new recruit with stars in his/her eyes, and through process of circumstance, he/she finds himself/herself being at the forefront of things. I'd like the story to revolve around getting the Mass Relays to work again, and there could be antagonism in the form of tension between all of the races that are now stranded on a single planet (especially if you cured the Krogan genophage in the previous games).
Well what I know is that it definitely is set in the future. Though I'm not sure whether shepherd and his crew will be in NPC form as I believe it's going to be set 50+ Years after ME 3. What I do know is that recently they've started work on motion capture for a cinematic for possibly E3 and of this image of what looks like a new possible race: (I'm on an iPad so can't really get a pic of it from the article so here's the link) http://www.gamerheadlines.com/2014/...ronments-while-a-cinematic-is-being-prepared/
Have you guys tried the MEHEM Mod? It makes the ending so much better. It's a bittersweet ending that focuses on "Sweet" part rather than bitter, including a little scene at the end with Shepard hugging his romance partner.
I haven't as I play on Xbox and honestly I actually like the extended cut ending and feel that the synthesis ending was the best one. That way I don't have to destroy EDI and ruin jokers life. - - Auto Merge - - So here's an interesting mod for all you thane romancers. http://coldwetn0se.deviantart.com/journal/The-Thane-MOD-Keep-Thane-Alive-371472609 it basically gives those a better ending allowing thane to survive and for Kirrahe to take his place.
Synthesis and Control both seemed so evil to me, Forcing people to transform against their wills into some kind of Borg-ish monstrosity or literally joining the Reapers and hope they stay outta humanities way for another 100yrs. I've always seen the only morale choices to be Refuse or Destroy. I don't believe everything some Reaper-tech AI claims about how it will destroy all synthetic life, after all EDI and Geth are Software not Hardware like the Reapers. You can't tell me the Crucible is somehow gonna magically erase every hard drive in the universe with a copy of their programming on it. Brainiac survived much worse and he's no where near as creative and smart like EDI. I'm also playing my 4th play through right now and nearing Horizon, I played a couple soldiers and a Adept, 2 males and 1 femshepard. 1 Fem being my psycho Renegade. All 3x though I had to save Wrex, metagame I know I can save Mordain by kill Wrex but I Wrex is too awesome to kill and Mordain doesn't die by my hand! 4th play through is Infiltrator Fem Shep Paragon this time but with Renegade interrupts. I'm playing 1 and 2 on xbox then transferring save over to pc for 3 to try out the Happy Ending mod proxy mentioned. Weird that Bright and I are just about in sync on our 4th run thrus - - Auto Merge - - Just lost all my progress on a corrupted thumb drive debacle, have to start ME2 all over now. And I will have to download someone elses save that made the same decisions as me for ME3 on the PC
Mass Effect 2 Mordin is stubborn on the Genophage, admit you were evil! Manually installed MEHEM 0.4 and found a save file online thats inline with the game I'm playing now on my xbox, so while my hopes of legit transfer were dashed for ME3 at least I can make do with someone elses work.
I dread to think how many hours I've sunk into Mass Effect. I've probably played through the first about Six-Seven times. The 3rd games ending did leave a scar after all those choices got narrowed down to four, But I have good faith in Bioware that they'll create a new masterpiece with 4 (So long as EA keep they're hands off it). One thing still bothers me though. The Reapers say that Organics and Synthetics could never Co-exist but during the third game, you can get the Quarians and Geth to make a truce. So when the Catalyst Kid is talking about his nonsense, why isn't there a dialogue option to use that conflict as an example that Co-existing is possible.
Yes, the Star Child is talking out of his ass and you can't call him on it! So infuriating! Spoiler: Leviathan DLC Just because the Leviathan created The Reapers and The Reapers "harvested" The Leviathan doesn't mean that all AIs will always go ape on their creators! Even The Leviathan said The Reapers were just following their programming which means its The Leviathan that screwed up and not The Reapers just doing what nature intended by attacking all organic life.
To be honest Im kind of guessing that the Leviathans are going to play a big part of ME 4 either as the villains or something different entirely. Also I had a strange mass effect related dream last night. Spoiler: The Dream Basically what happened was I was Femshep who at the start of the dream was running straight for the synthesis ending, surprisingly in this dream I was unscathed and perfectly fit rather than battered and bruised like in the game. So after the whole being uploaded type thing and things returned to normal I (as femshep) was just sitting there in blackness before I was rebooted and my (femsheps) conscious was uploaded into a hypersexualised robot model of femshep combined with EDI. All traces of my past and military and combat knowledge were erased and the remainder of my dream was serving as an obedient robot AI that looks and sounds and acts like Femshep being passed around to both crew and others (like Conrad Verner and that really annoying reporter with the long name) serving as their servant and doing everything they tell me too even if it is NSFW.
I wish that ME4 is set after ME3, I seriously don't want a Prequel. I might not even get ME4 if it is. But it's looking really good so far, and it appears promicing for EA shooting themselves in the neck. EA, I dont care how much money you have and how much you are into sports! DONT MESS THIS UP !!!
my dreams are almost always from a spectator view for the past decade instead of first person. My first person dreams had me sleepwalking like crazy, up and down stairs out of one house, cross the street and enter another. your dream sounds awesome, last dream that i had that even came to close to that was when i was like 5 and Atreyu and I would continue our Never Ending story hehe. ME4 better be a sequel damn it Crimson you got me scared now! :ahh:
I broke down and ordered the original trilogy. I'm finally going to see what the franchise is all about, starting this Friday.
Good...good....Let the Renegade flow through you... Or Paragon, like I always do. I always feel bad about being a dick.
