So, my first foray into the world of PC gaming on Steam (I haven't played any PC games in years) was pretty much an abysmal failure. As it seems that DayZ standalone won't be worth crap anytime soon. You can read all about that in my DayZ thread in the games subsection. So can anyone recommend me a game to play on Steam? I'm looking for something that isn't too expensive and that doesn't require I have the best gaming PC on the planet. My laptop is pretty beast, but unless I get the optional second GPU it probably won't do too well with something like Bioshock Infinite or Crysis 3. An RTS maybe? I used to love those, but haven't played one since Sig Meiyer's Alpha Centauri lol. Oh, and just for giggles, here's my specs: Intel Core i7 4700MQ @ 2.4Ghz (can turbo itself to 3.5 or something) nVidia GT 755M GPU 8gb RAM Actually thinking about buying that second graphics card, it's on sale from Lenovo for only $100 right now. But... I doubt any of the games I play even utilize SLI. :/
Garry's mod. Infinite entertainment. So many addons. 100+ hours played and still not even slightly boring. Best with friends.
I have the Witcher 2 for xbox, just haven't gotten around to playing it yet lol. Own that one too, just haven't gotten around to beating it yet. Usually I play with my brother but we both got on a Dark Souls kick so we've been playing that. Unfortunately, he's absolute rubbish at DkS, so it takes him forever to get anywhere with it. I'm also not really necessarily looking at first tier titles, something less known and less expensive would be fine. I just want something fun to play that would justify the money I spent on a mouse to play PC games lol.
^This. Damn you people and your posting things before I could. The Binding of Issac, Hotline Miami, and such.
But it is completely useless if you don't have the right graphics or power to run it smoothly I would have to go with Garry's mod and half life 1 and onwards. Also civilisation 5.
I can play the game fairly well on my laptop, which is powered by a Quadro NVS 5400M. That's not exactly gaming graphics, in that it's literally workstation graphics.
The free to play section of steam is always a good spot to look for some new games to play I'd suggest Killing Floor, the Left 4 dead games, and Counter Strike is pretty fun from time to time
Definitely have to look into all these. ^.^ Right now I'm downloading tf2, I keep seeing it everywhere so I figured it must be worth a try. That...and it's free. I love free. Steam, y u take so long to download? <.<
Some good Indie games are: Thomas Was Alone (Platformer), The Stanley Parable (Brilliant Story), Surgeon Simulator (Hilarious Fun), Hotline Miami (Mental), Lone Survivor (Horror), FTL (Space Strategy) As for other games, I'd recommend ANY Valve game, Skyrim's easy to run and Civilization 5 is a good Strategy game.
There are literally so many games on Steam that to mention all the good ones would take forever. What other kinds of games are you interested in? As for RTS games? I like Star Wars Empire at War if you're into Star Wars. There's also a nice mod called Republic at War that coverts the whole game into the Clone Wars era.
