That is, you have the ability to somehow either bring a discontinued developer back to life, or simply take a developer you feel was fantastic but went down-hill, and bring it back up to speed. If you had the ability to do this, which developer would you bring back, and why? I'm sure many people agree with me concerning Rare. It should have remained a Nintendo thing. Given the opportunity, I'd take it off Microsoft's hands, and give it back to Nintendo. Their newer games just don't appeal to me, despite the fact they created so many classics in the past. That said, I feel that what happened to Rare is the fault of Nintendo. Otherwise, I might bring Sega back to the console market. They had some pretty great consoles, and I'm sure the console market would have looked quite different today had they stayed in it.
I would love to see what Capcom could do if only they could get with the times. They make great-looking games with interesting stories, but they use outdated gameplay mechanics and concepts, sometimes so much so that it destroys what might have been a great game.
Team Silent (The guys who made Silent Hill 1+2+3+4). it's easily my favorite franchise and it's heartbreaking to see it become so mediocre and bland. after 4, Konami split up the team to work on bloody mobile games and there's zero chance of them reforming but the franchise is now back in the hooves of Japanese developers (notably Hideo Kojima), so there's still hope. Capcom (mainly for Resident Evil + DMC) They wanted to make a franchise that was the next Call Of Duty so bad that they ruined existing ones. Now they've tried to invest in the mobile platforms and that's backfired horrifically. I really can't see them recovering unless they change their strategy and return to triple-A console games.
Microsoft(2001-2010) Xbox was the best thing ever in this time Nintendo(1985-1999) Everything from NES through N64 Bungie(2001-2007) Halo 1, 2, and 3 Sega(Not too sure about the times on this, but seriously the Genesis console was amazing. If only it didn't have to compete with Super Nintendo in those times it would have done much better.) Probably a lot more. I just can't think of any.
