Step 1: Create quality original content that doesn't rely on material created by other people. There is no step 2.
Easier said than done, you rarely find something 100% original. Just look at the copyright strikes hasbro did torwards MLP-animators, for example.
See, there's this thing called Fair Use, which allows for using works made by other people to be used for parody, criticism, or anything like that. In other words, this is a way of protecting freedom of speech, which I know you, as a proud American, hold dear. However, YouTube's copyright system doesn't make a distinction between Fair Use and pirated material. A lot of times, companies don't even own the thing they're claiming. Sometimes, even completely original content gets flagged for copyright. And there's even third-party companies who make a living doing this. And unless you're a big name like PewDiePie or JonTron, fighting off these claims can be a nightmare. Also, YouTube operates on a three-strike system, which limits what your channel can do with only one strike, and eliminates your channel altogether if you get three or more. Now consider the fact that many people on YouTube make a living through the site by uploading videos that use copyrighted material for parody or review purposes. If they get three strikes, their channel is GONE. Which means that they lose their very livelihood. So if you believe that people should be able to lose their jobs and their right to free speech because corporations fear they may lose precious profit, go right ahead. Just remember that it flies in the face of the values of the country you love.
The funny thing is that Nostalgia Critic covered this himself too. But he said stuff more along the lines of what you are talking about. A lot of the assault is from the companies at Hollywood. People that, at one time, created Hollywood to create freely are now the people trying to control all their content and outright ban anyone on the internet from using their content aside from themselves. Actually... to make it easier on me, here is the video.
Let me clarify. My original comment was intended as a criticism of the thousands of people who do amateur reviews of the games and shows that everyone else is also reviewing.
