I love metal, but can't stand screaming. I don't know what it it, but I just plain do not like the sound of it. As such, some of my favorite bands are:

    Dream Theater
    Symphony X
    Iron Maiden
    Judas Priest

Come to think of it, I don't listen to a large variety of artists, but I tend to listen the ones I DO listen to a ton and intently.

"We are here to make coffee, metal! We will make everything metal, blacker than the blackest black… times infinity! "

By that I mean to say I like metal covers of rock/pop/country songs, it makes them 666% cooler.

I'm seeing a distinct lack of Swallow the Sun.
    Which is an awesome band.
    Also a lack of Ataraxie.
Prolly the darkest band in existence.

I looked up Ataraxie and loved it! It kind of reminded me of In Flames, especially during Lunar Strain.

Ataraxie`has some good stuff, I like they have longer songs that just roll on and on that's epic. This is some good drifting off to sleep music for sure.

Yeah, I listen a lot to metal. Everything about metal is meant to provoke strong emotions, which is a great outlet as well as a source of inspiration for me.

I especially love melodic / folk metal. I absolutely worship folk-death metal band Eluveitie.
I also listen to some classy death/doom metal bands like Amorphis and Opeth. I don't like black metal, though.
Finally I think power metal is a great genre, too. Freedom Call and Dragonforce are my favorites.

    Edit:

    THIS IS MY 666th POST!! \m/>.< \m/

Here, have some of my music.
