Pre-Celestial History

Not finished, but my laptop's going to die on me, so I just want to post it up.


It was a rainy day in Ponyville. Twilight Sparkle had just been studying by the outdoor tables at Pinky’s bakery, and was drenched. She had with her a saddlebag that contained some scrolls on the history of Equestria, back 1000 years ago, and prominent figures in its history. She looked around, and saw that no other ponies were outside.
“Probably trying to get out of the rain,” she said to herself. She then began the half-mile long walk to get to her house. The rain started to pour harder, and Twilight noticed her bag began to feel wet. She turned her head, to see her bag had water soaking through it, ruining her scrolls. She broke into a run, and got home just in time for the rain to stop.
Twilight threw her bag onto the table, and she went to go dry herself off. She vigorously rubbed a towel on her mane until it was damp, and then played with the style for a little bit. She saw her reflection in the mirror, and impulsively started talking to it.
“I’m sick of this life. All I do is study, talk with my friends, study some more, and then sleep.”
“So what’s going to come of it?” Her reflection asked her.
“I just want one interesting of different thing to happen, for better or worse. The problem is that I just don’t really have any talents to make something happen, and I’m not really into finding a guy right now either.”
“You can organize, and you are really good at education and reading.”
“Yeah, but those just lead me to my same old life. I want something new.”
“You’d be surprised. Why don’t you go find an interesting scroll of some sort that would lead to a life-changing discovery? Go check your scrolls, and while you do that, think, and fill yourself with remorse about talking to yourself in a mirror.”
Twilight felt stupid, but she took her advice seriously and checked on her wet scrolls. Her bag was still damp, and the scrolls still waterlogged. She opened her bag, and right there was a scroll. She picked it up, and opened it. It immediately started to disintegrate, but peeled off of another piece of parchment. She threw aside the original document and started reading the newly discovered one. It read:

To Blazegate Sparkle

I couldn’t help but notice your interest in pre-Celestial history. I know that the archives have a restricted/banned section, but there’s no way you can get into it. There was a book about the rise to the war for Equestria, and you may be interested, but if you were to go find it, you would certainly be arrested and killed if you were caught. It’s like they want to keep it from us. Are they really that stupid? None of us really think Celestia created the universe.

The scroll ended there. Twilight started to wonder why there was no recorded history she could find anywhere about things more than 1000 years ago. She was a little worried about wanting to find out a subject that, according to the letter was illegal. Before setting it down, she noticed whom the letter was for. Blazegate Sparkle, her Great-Grandfather, was just a shop owner, and didn’t seem to have a very interesting life. She then walked over to her telephone, and phoned her friend, Pinkie Pie. She and Pinkie had snuck into the archives many times, but for less important things.
Pinkie answered.
“Hello?”
“This is Twilight.”
“Oh, hi Twilight! Why are you calling me?”
“Sneaking into the archives.”
“Oh, okay. The usual?”
“Nope. There is a banned section, and I need to find a book about pre-Celestial history.”
“Pre-Celestial history?” Pinkie’s voice became very low suddenly.
“Pre-Celestial history.”
“Is the heat gonna be there?”
“Um… I think so?”
“Are we gonna have to smoke ‘em? I don’t want no smokin’.”
“Pinkie! Just talk normally! Okay? Just sneak in like we usually do, same time, same place.”
“Okey dokey lokey!”

Pinkie hung up first.


That night, Pinkie met Twilight by their designated meeting spot- a bush outside the archives. They both had on tactical gear, with masks, night vision goggles, and many other gadgets that Pinkie somehow had obtained.
“Pinkie! How did you get all this stuff?” Twilight whispered. “Sometimes I go hunting in my free time! But never when Fluttershy is around!” Pinkie whispered back. Pinkie nodded at Twilight, who then pulled out a grappling hook, and threw it up into a window. Pinkie climbed up first, followed by Twilight.
They entered an unlit corridor that lead to three others. Twilight was trying to figure out how to turn on her nightvison goggles, so she couldn’t see anything. She could tell Pinkie was ahead of her, but she couldn’t tell where. She closed her eyes, trying to get them used to the dark. Twilight began counting to thirty, until she just decided to open her eyes. A sudden flash of green showed up in her eyes, and then she could see Pinkie right in front of her. Twilight saw something in Pinkie’s hoof, but ignored it, looking at her gesture to keep moving.
Every time there was even the gentlest noise, Pinkie would jump into a fighting stance, or lie down flat on the floor. Twilight just did whatever she did, since Pinkie seemed to know what she was doing much for than Twilight. They progressed down many different corridors, finding all sorts of rooms, but also guards and other security.

just little heads up the history is going to be really, really epic
