Last night, Steam revealed their console, the Steam Machine. They're working with 12 different companies to make it, and their price will range from $499 to $6,000. In the link is a picture of what it will look like:

I honestly can't see myself buying one when I have a perfectly good PC with Steam on it.

Seems to me this will (mostly) tailor to a niche crowd of consumers who are mainly console gamers but wish to get into the PC gaming sphere without needing to know how to build advanced custom rigs. Geeks will like them because it's Linux complete with full Debian OS w/ GNOME shell -- completely open and hackable. Plus the smaller form factor makes it ideal as an entertainment PC for a main room.. The $6000 models are rather absurd though. Is it an overglorified PC-console love child? Perhaps, but people might draw to them.

I'm just excited about Steam-OS personally, and fiddling around with that. But then I'm one who needs no console or anything like that. My computer is my baby c:

I'm no pc gamer, but this doesn't scream "must get!" to me yet. The pricing is still far above my means. :/

I could buy a friggin' car for six thousand dollars.

This is clearly marketed towards people with more money than brains.
