I've been playing Project 1999 and Classic Everquest is every bit as fun as I remember. In Star Wars the Old Republic I have nearly 30 characters 55-60, while entertaining cause of lightsabers, this game and WoW fail to offer any real sense of accomplishment. Everquest is the Dark Souls of MMOs, nothing is handed to and death is expected; but the difficulty of the journey is just the fire forging you for greatness. "End Game Content" raids are challenges of legendary proportions where the successful completion of the raid itself is the reward; and no 'instance' limitations and rules to stifle your creativity in approaching the challenges was nice. Hidden quests and stories that can be discovered through chatting with npcs. Hail certain NPCs, read what they have to say and respond like a real person and the NPC may converse with you further revealing the hidden paths.**
Until a publisher is smart enough to resurrect and modernize this great mmo formulae I will continue to go back and spend time in EQ. While video killed the radio star, Marketing to PvPers killed the PvE star

**ex- Knowing that a quest giver was going to backstab Commander Kane, my friend and I chose to rat him out instead, which to our surprise actually got a response secret alternate ending to our quest was revealed by Kane and through more dialogue we found clues leading to a secret "true ending" to the quest, which had the developers finished it would of returned an epic sword before epic items existed. but they eventually gave up and removed the quest entirely. Discovering hidden things like this through staying in character really adds to the immersion
