I find "Everypony orchestra" being a bit too obvious, but God damn it, it's the biggest truth out of them all up there. So I picked it.
We have a tie! We need to break it! If I knew how to close options, I would do so, but I don't. SO only vote for either The Fillyharmonic Orchestra OR the EveryPony Orchestra!!
@Jaret: Wow, thanks! That's what I was going for with the intro, so I'm glad you liked it! Anyways, sorry for the delay, the past few days have been a bit busy, but I finished it and (hopefully) cleaned up that middle part so it's less messy sounding. Let me know what you guys think. http://meletric.bandcamp.com/track/mlp-theme-cover-2nd-draft Tough decision between the names, but I'm going with EPO, because it shows the orchestra's affiliation with Everypony, so it can advertize for the site, and vice-versa
OH, and I removed the other options, which caused it to be, erm, vote-able again. GUYS, who voted, don't vote anymore. Stupid, stupid Jaret. Oh well...
A wild score appears! link I'm pretty sure alto sax is transposed in e flat, and tenor sax in b flat, but I might be wrong, so if I am I can re-transpose those two parts.
That is actually a VERY good question. Call it poor planing, but I don't have a clue on what to do for this part. I don't know about what programs to use or what format to record our parts in, but if you have the capabilities to do so or know of someone on the forum who can, feel free to help out! EDIT: We need a Youtube channel....anyone want the responsibility of uploading our performances there? In all likely hood, if you choose to be the one to combine all of the parts, then you will also be the one to upload it.
Well... I think I gonna join you, I'm playing guitar, electric one. But for the moment, I haven't got anything decent for recording but I gonna buy this quickly, normally.
Well, I have little to no practical experience in this field (do I sound like Twilight?), nor will I have the time to do it myself. I can only give suggestions. First suggestion: Audacity as the recording/basic mixing software. Might not be as powerful as commercial solutions, but I think it does all we need it to do for now. Greatest advantage: It's free as in free beer (and free as in free speech, if anyone else than me cares for that), so no costs involved. Second greatest advantage: It's cross-platform. Not everypony here uses Windows for everything, we might also have Mac or Linux users (I'm one of the latter, and I would have suggested Ardour if it didn't run on Unix-like systems only). As for a raw audio format for the separate tracks, all lossy codecs are totally out of question. So no MP3, no WMA, no AAC, but WAV instead. It's 10MB per minute (16bit/44.1kHz), but it shrinks quite well when zipped, although not as small as 128k MP3. I also don't recommend mailing the parts around. It'd be a lot better to have an FTP server with a dedicated upload folder for contributors (maybe password protected) and a read-only download folder (with write access for certain users only) for backing tracks and such. Yes, I know that means someone will need actual web space of their own, so it's not as easy-peasy as Dropbox, RapidShare, MegaUpload and what-have-you, but it's the best solution IMO.
Okay....I think I'm going to step up to the plate here.....I've got Audacity on my computer and have fiddled with it enough that I think I've got good idea on how to work it, but what do I do for the second part? I have NO clue what a "FTP Server" is. Could you give me some good sites to check or maybe a run through of what to do?
