    Much truth in this. I've performed in the freezing cold before, and although guitars don't suffer quite as much from extreme temps (the wood warps a bit, but it's not too problematic) as other instruments, playing with half-frozen fingers is a misery beyond misery. It saps you of playing speed/accuracy AND hurts like hell.

    ...Although that could just be a case of needing to keep the hands warm as opposed to the instrument itself, but still.

    Ah yes, I forgot to mention that.
    Add that to my list of laments.

    I concur. It hurts bad enough to move your fingers, let alone drag them around on guitar strings. Someone needs to invent some gloves for that.

    Playing in about 30 degree weather a couple years ago. You can't tell it here but I was miserable. Especially after the sun set. How everyone else survived in short sleeves, I have no idea.

    Hi!

    I play bass guitar, a bit of keyboards, sing (Mostly backing vocals cause my voice is horrible x3) and some percussion (Not drums though)
    I´ve been playing for around 2 years now, and music is my dream. I love making Ambient music, although I´m not that good at it (https://soundcloud.com/eccentricbrony) and metal music.

    I played the tuba in band, sousaphone for marching band, but I don't play anymore because I'm done with high school and haven't saved up for one of those beautiful instruments. ;~;

    I do like to sing along with music that I listen to. Dunno if that really counts for anything.

    Oh, so this section of the forum and topic does exist. =P

    My main instrument is the bassoon. I've been playing it for seven and a half years now, in concert bands and symphony orchestras. Although I started band approximately seven years earlier on the trumpet. So I have some experience on the trumpet as well. In the end, I just didn't feel like the trumpet was the right instrument for me. I gravitated away from brass to woodwinds really fast, and tried the clarinet. Then it was the bassoon. Once I got one (yes... I was spoiled massively) there has been no looking back.

    A couple of years back, I got spoiled again and got a tenor saxophone for marching. Unfortunately, I have yet to march again, so I've never really performed on that instrument, nor can I say I know it too well. I do know I love, because I played a little alto several years before and fell in love with the instrument.

    Even more recently, I got an oboe. Which probably makes me sound crazy, but at least I can say I purchased this instrument myself. xD The fact of the matter is that back when I got the bassoon, I had already decided the tenor saxophone and oboe were my other two top favorite instruments and someday I'd have to get them and learn them... So, I had it decided all along. I have no idea what I'll do with the oboe once I've learned it, but I'll find something. Either way, I enjoy playing it, even if it is frustrating at times. My pet bird seems to like it, too. xD (Perhaps that's what I can do... Post videos of my bird singing along with my oboe playing. Lol... Just kidding)
