Taming the Fire's Heart (FINAL CHAPTER!)

Ponyville, a place full of happiness where harmony and peace ruled. The keepers of these elements just so happened to live among the ponies of this wonderful town as well. Ponyville was a special place to contain the 6 elements of Harmony, but now it contained the 6 Elements of Peace as well. Nova Glitz was one of these special ponies, representing the Element of Unity. But today he wasn’t feeling very peaceful at all, almost an empty feeling to him. He gazed out at the sky and pondered this feeling, he had everything a pony could want and still he felt as is something was missing. Just as he was thinking, a spot appeared in the sky and was moving rather fast, and on fire? He just starred for a few moments before it was heading a left, then right, and right for him! He only had a mere moment to react before he heard a scream,

“WATCH OUT!!!” The thing yelled. That wasn’t any rock, it was a Pegasus! And probably going to crash land! The Unicorn instantly responded by using his magic to attempt stopping it, but it came a mere second to late as he suddenly gets bowled over by a Pegasus. The two rolled a few yards before stopping, Glitz lied on the ground really dizzy and gave his head a quick shake,

“Ow…” was all he said before trying to get up, but only found something was laying on top of him. Looking up, he saw the Pegasus twitching a bit, they must have hurt themselves. Using his magic he slowly lifted it… her off of him and set her on the ground. The unicorn rolled over and got up, moving over to give her a nudge,

“Hey… are you okay miss?” The only response he got was a groan and a shake of the Pegasus head. “Oh dear…” he said, looking at her, “try to get up will you?” She nodded and attempted standing, but a squeal and a collapsing Pegasus told him she was hurt, and bad. Glitz lifted her up with his magic and set her on his back, “To the hospital with you.” He said before walking off towards the doctors office.

“Wait… you don’t need to.” The Mare said suddenly, seeming to have fully recovered from being dizzy or something. “I’ll be ok, I’ve suffered worse injuries.” Nova looked back at her and shook his head,

“You took a rather hard hit and I just want to make sure you’re ok.” He thought for a moment before looking back at her, “An impact like that could have killed you, what we’re you doing up there?” The Pegasus didn’t respond immediately, so he assumed she didn’t want to talk about it.

“I... I was practicing.” She said softly, being vague to give off a hint.

“Oh, you don’t want to talk about it do ya?” Glitz said while slowly coming to a halt to get past the door, he took her inside and looked back at her, “Just so we can be sure ok?” He said and set her down on a comfy mat. The nurses had apparently saw them and quickly responded by bring a soft bed.

“Excuse me sir… you look pretty rough yourself, would you like us to check on you as well?” He thought for a minute and nodded, “better safe than sorry.” The nurse took him into another room. After examination, turned out Glitz indeed fracture a bone, but it was a simple crack which would heal within a few days. The Pegasus wasn’t so lucky, she broke a bone in her wing and twisted an ankle, poor thing wasn’t going to walk or fly for a while. As he was leaving, he was stopped,

“Excuse me.. your leaving without your sister?” the nurse pony said after trotting up to him.

“Wait… sister?” he thought for a moment and looked back at the room where the Pegasus was inside,

“Yes… She requested to see you at once.” He sighed to himself before nodding, “very well. May I go in?” The nurse nodded. Glitz made his way in and saw the Pegasus laying down, covered in bandages, most notably the one around her wing. Glitz knew if that didn’t heal right she’d be grounded forever, and only Celestia knew what would happen to a Pegasus that couldn’t fly. Moving closer he nudged her to see if she was awake. Her eye’s opened and looked right at him, a sense of fear and gratitude all in one.

“The nurses said my sister wanted to see me… anything I can do for ya sis?” Glitz said with a playful smile. Honestly he had no idea why she said that, but his look kind of demanded an answer, as did the tone he used.

“I’m… so sorry for the trouble.” The mare began, “I just wanted to thank you for what you did back there, it was very kind.” Glitz nodded,

“Don’t mention it, I bet you woulda been fine even without me.”

“Oh, no… you don’t understand… the nurse told me I would never have been to fly if I didn’t make it here when I did.” She looked at her wing and sighed, “Apparently something broke and wouldn’t have naturally healed right, so I owe you so much.” Glitz offered a nod and then it hit him,

“So why did you say you’re my sister anyway?: he said with a raised brow, “It’s kind of odd seeing as I don’t even know who you are.”

“Oh... I um…” She was obviously really embarrassed right now, “I wondered, could I… oh buck it.” Glitz just blinked and stared blankly at her, giving her a nudge as if he wanted her to say it. “I want to know if I could go home with you, I’m homeless and don’t want to stay here, in the hospital.”

“And why don’t you want to stay in the hospital?” It only took a look and a small squeak from the Pegasus for him to figure it out. She attempted to tell him again, but only squeaked again, “Let me guess, you’re afraid of hospitals?” She only nodded and he sat down, pondering, “Give me a moment.” He found a paper and quill nearby and began writing.

“What are you doing?” She said, eyeing him, he seemed too focused to respond. “Um… we haven’t been properly introduced, I’m Firebolt.” Still he was intently writing, but soon Glitz closed his eyes as a blue aura enveloped the letter and sent it off in sparkles.

“There… I’ll get Twi’s opinion on this and then I’ll decide.” He turned to face her, “Knowing that soft hearted filly, she’ll say yes.”

“Wait… do you mean Twilight? As in THE Twilight Sparkle?” the Pegasus assumed, little did she know, she was right! Nova nodded to her,

“Yep! That’s the one!” He said, it was only moments a green flame appeared, making the Pegasus yelp in surprise. Nova chuckled at her reaction and used his magic ot pick it up, slowly reading, “Did she say it was ok?” He turned back and nodded.

“Yup, she understands completely and everything will be ready when I get you there.” Nova said before turning away, “Probably should go get the paperwork finished.”

“Oh wait… My names Firebolt, if they ask.” He nodded, “Nova Glitz, but you can call me either, all my friends do.” He said before leaving, grinning.

“N…nova, Glitz? It can’t be….” Firebolt thought to herself. Nova, the Element of Unity. Could it really be him? She would soon find out as nurses helped get her into a wheelchair of sorts. Nova returned and slowly began pushing her out,

“Be easy on your side… don’t stress it to much!” the nurse called after him as he left. Nova smiled and returned her call with a thank you before walking towards the library,

“So… Glitz, are you the pony I’m thinking of, I mean, the Element of Unity?” Nova blinked and looked at her rather shocked,

“You know who I am?” Firebolt swiftly nodded and began giggling, it was rather adorable, but she was just so excited,

“How could I not?! You’re the Unicorn that saved Equestria from Discord’s reign. I don’t believe this is happening.” Nova was still pushing her along, using his magic so he didn’t hurt his rub anymore than he already had.

“Maybe something got knocked loose in your head you silly filly.” He chuckled while walking beside her, she looked over and was suddenly shocked,

“Wait! Who is pushing the…” Firebolt looked and saw his horn glowing, “oh..”

“Hey… I have complete control, savior of Equestria remember?” He laughed to himself, “I wish everypony would stop giving me credit, I had 5… no… 11 other ponies helping me.” This gave Firebolt something to think about. It was a such a short time before he wheeled her to a stop at the door,

“I’ll go in and say hi, don’t go anywhere.” He winked before entering the library

“oh… funny.” Was all she said and just sat there, what else could she do? And what was going to become of her? What if she could never fly again? Before she became a mental case, Nova came out with a lavender colored unicorn beside him,

“Twilight Sparkle, meet Firebolt, and Firebolt meet Twilight.” He stood back a moment and let them converse for a moment,

“It’s an honor to meet you miss Sparkle.” Firebolt said, and got a giggle in return,

“You may call me Twilight, and I welcome you to my home.” Nova cleared his throat, “Oh yes, Our home.” This made Nova smile before he went inside,

“Ok girls, let’s not stand outside all day, bring her in.” Nova said before magically wheeling Firebolt into the large library. This was going to be Firebolts home for the next few days, and she was with two of Equestria’s hero’s. Firebolt couldn’t feel luckier, and outclassed. Here she was, a mere Pegasus pony being taken in by two of Equestria’s most magical unicorns and greatest legends, how could she not feel like that? It was probably going to be a long week, Firebolt took a deep breath before taking in the sights. Who knew? This may turn out ok afterall.


Taming the Fire’s Heart Pt.2

It had been about a week since Firebolt had her accident, and things couldn’t have been better. Nova and Twilight both treated her like royalty and made sure she was able to heal right. Whenever she wasn’t talking to them, she was reading one of the many books inside the library to help pass time. Meanwhile, Twilight and Nova were doing studies on magic whenever they could. After the incident of Discords return Celestia gave them a responsibility to bind Discord forever with a spell that would not be easily broken. This took a lot out of the two unicorns and they almost became social recluses from devoting so much time to study. Eventually Nova left the lab and yawned, Twilight beside him,

“Yet another uneventful night.” Twilight said, looking rather bushed and ready to hit the hay,

“It’s alright Twi, we’ve almost got it, I just know it!” Nova replied in order to keep her hopes up, but each day they both slowly began losing hope. Nothing was working and the reports they sent to Celestia mostly said things like, they hadn’t made much progress or they had high hopes for this experiment, and then it failed.

“Maybe we should just tell her it can’t be done.” The look in Twilights eyes was all but defeat, she was ready to give up now.

“No! Don’t say that Twi, let’s take a break and maybe a day-off will help us think better.” Twilight didn’t like the idea, but agreed as she headed to bed. Firebolt, who had now been walking around now but not flying yet, walked up to Nova and seemed concerned,

“You two have been working awfully hard on that project of yours, You could use the break.” Nova nodded and went to lie down. Yawning rather heavily before he stretched out on his bed. Firebolt thought, maybe it’s time to pay them back a bit for saving her. So she crawled onto the bed and gently began massaging his shoulders and back,

“What are yo- oh… that feels nice.” He said and seemed to melt under her massaging, this had to be her special talent. Nova felt himself slowly drifting away, he never felt so relaxed before and sleep began creeping up on him. It wasn’t long before Nova drifted away and feel into a deep and happy sleep,

“Wow, you two must be exhausting yourselves with those experiments.” She said she yawned herself, the Pegasus was still recovering and didn’t have a lot of strength. She didn’t know what had happened, but she suddenly blacked out, for no reason apparently.

-next day-

Nova woke up and smiled, feeling oddly warm and very comfortable. His mind was still a bit hazy, he hadn’t slept that good in a while. Slowly his eye’s opened and he founds a plush in his bed. That was nice, it was so cozy, warm, and seemed to be alive. He closed his eye’s and… wait… Alive?! His eye’s shot open as he realized just exactly what, or who he was all cuddled up to. Nova jumped in surprised,

“Wha?! GAH!” He yelped as he fell out of the bed, obviously causing the Pegasus to be awoken by his cry, all startled she quickly looked around and then looked down. She tilted her head and leaned over,

“What are ya doing down there silly?” she said with a giggle. Nova just stared up at her, blankly, his look was saying, you seriously can’t figure it out? Firebolt’s brain took a few seconds to register, but once she realized what happened she blushed really hard, probably the hardest she ever had, “Oh, um.” Nova sat up and chuckle a lighthearted chuckle as he to was blushing,

“This is, awkward.” He said and she nodded. Nova crawled up onto the bed and sat beside her, “Take it you got some sleep?” She nodded, and still was blushing like mad, oh Celestia she was so cute right now. He smiled and thought for a moment, trying to think of something witty to say to lighten the mood, but it failed him. “That’s good.”

“I’m sorry, I don’t know what happened.” She said, extremely embarrassed right now.

“Oh don’t worry about it, I kinda enjoyed it after all, no harm no foul right?” Nova then hugged her, he had no idea why, but some force unknown to him was telling him to just cuddle her a bit longer. Firebolt was taken aback by his sudden movements, but the same force compelling Nova got to her and she just grabbed him in return and held him tight. Nova suddenly realized something at that moment, the emptiness he felt was gone. But how? Why? What was going on in his mind? They two enjoyed the moment before a voice interrupted the close moment.

“I see you two are enjoying yourselves.” Twilight said and giggled, the two quickly broke the hug and now Nova was blushing as hard as Firebolt,

“H…how long have you been standing there?” Nova said, avoiding eye contact

“Long enough, you two just looked so cute together I didn’t want to disturb you.” She said before turning to leave, “I’m going to go see my friends, you two enjoy yourselves!” Twilight trotted down the staircase and left the two alone. Nova got up and smiled,

“Let’s not waste any time today! We gotta take you back to the clinic!” Firebolts ears perked,


“You, remembered that?” she said, almost surprised, but kind of worried, she didn’t want to go.

“I sure did! Now let’s get moving!” He quickly headed to the door, but no Firebolt behind him, “If you’re not coming, I’m dragging you.” Firebolt jumped to attention and quickly walked down the stairs, last she wanted was to be dragged, and after what had happened last night she didn’t want to maybe risk upsetting him at all.

“Okay! I’m coming.” She said. Nova left the building with her in tow. It was a short walk to the hospital and even shorter for them to get in and get her checked up. The nurse removed the bandage and looked over the wing, asking her to do a few things, like flex it and such.

“Well, the wing has healed perfectly! She’s clear to fly.” The nurse pony said happily. Firebolt spread her wings and jumped up in excitement, “Aww yeah!” she said excitedly.

“Just take it easy for a while. Going a long time without using them may have caused a bit of muscle weakness.” Firebolt nodded, and with being cleared she couldn’t be more happy. She swiftly left with Nova once everything was in order and nearly ran out the door.

“Be careful.” The unicorn warned her, stepping back. Firebolt nodded and with a hard jump, bolted off into the air. Oh wow it felt so good to fly again! Firebolt never realized how much she would miss doing this. Soaring around in the sky, she soon felt a bit tired. The nurse was right. Her underused muscles got a bit tired quickly. Firebolt then gracefully landed in front of Nova and smiled widely, Throwing herself at him and hugged him,

“Oh thank you! I wouldn’t be doing this if it weren’t for you! I owe you so much!” She squealed in excitement and happiness. Nova smiled at her and chuckled, hugging her in return, getting an Aww from a nearby filly who found it cute.

“You don’t owe me anything Firebolt, I was just being kind.” She nodded and let him go, “So, now your wings are ok, what do you plan on doing?” She thought hard about this one,

“I don’t really know yet, would you mind if I stayed a bit longer until I figured things out?” Nova nods and looks into her eyes

“You can stay as long as you like!” He said, getting another hug from her before they both began walking around town. The two chatted about a lot of things before the sun began setting,

“I think we need to head home.” Firebolt nodded, and just before they began heading for the library, Twilight ran up to them,

“GLITZ!” She screamed in excitement, something had her worked up,

“What wrong?!” He jumped and faced her. Twilight looked super happy right now,

“I have to show you something! It’s about the project!” Oh great, she had been working on the project on her own, he turned to Firebolt and sighed,

“Hey, would you mind waiting back at the library? We won’t be long.” She nodded and left, leaving Twilight to begin talking his head off about what she discovered. Nova listened closely, seeming happy himself, he had never seen her so giddy so something was up.

“Where are we going?” Nova said, but didn’t get a immediate response, Twilight looked at him,

“Somewhere special, I believe it may help us figure some things out.” Well that was rather, vague for someone such as Twilight to say. Soon the two had reached a pool, and in the moonlight it was glowing very bright, giving of a lovely glow. Nova examined it closely for a moment,

“And how does this help seal Discord?” He said before he gave an oof. Finding himself pinned down and looking up at Twilight, “Twi? What are yo-.” She put a hoof over his muzzle to hush him.

“Nova, I have a confession to make.” Nova felt a gear click in his brain. She brought him to a, well, romantic place, and had him pinned. Not to mention she was practically laying on him, she was so soft and warm, he felt like he could get lost again. Wait, what was happening to him? That fog was in his head again and he wasn’t thinking straight. He completely forgot what he was thinking before Twilight whispered in his ear, “I have a crush on you.” That was what he was trying to think. But that quickly left his mind as Twilight pulled away. Right now, she looked more lovely than ever to him, and he just stared. The glow of the moonlight made her eye’s shine bright as her mane blew softly in the gentle breeze. Nova was right now trying to figure out what was going on, that feeling, he no longer felt that empty feeling that he did when he was alone. Just like when he was with Firebolt, he felt so warm inside, and a fuzzy feeling to that he really liked. His heart was swelling in his chest as her words processed. This lovely mare, one of the most magical unicorns to ever exist, was confessing her love to him. He felt so lucky and without a single thought, his true mind, instincts, his true self came out. Unhindered by logic or anything, It was him and her right now.

“Twilight… I have a confession as well…” he pulled her down and whispered to her, “I have a crush on you to.” He smiled wide and Twilight almost squealed with excitement, it was like a dream come true, a love story if you must say. The two rubbed noses together and looked into each other’s eyes. Once again, something clicked, and it must have done it for her as well. Her mind seemed fogged as her eye’s slowly closing, moving closer to him. And surprisingly he was doing the same, as if they we’re one pony. And then it happened, their lips meet together for the first time in either of their lives, and sparks flew. Quite literally, both of their horns had started glowing form the sheer excitement and happiness they both felt and each horn gave of sparks and fizzles, As if attempting to cast a spell and failing. Neither of them minded as they held a kiss of immense passion, unlike anything either of them ever felt. It wasn’t long before they broke apart with both blushing like mad,

“Wha.. what just happened?” Nova said softly, Twilight only giggled, looking into his eyes,

“I have no idea, but it felt amazing.” She said, and got a nod of agreement from Nova. The two embraced each other under the moonlight, not wanting to let the other go. They felt as if they could stay here forever, just him and her. Slowly, without either of them realized, each fell into a deep sleep, embracing the other close, so close it seemed like every inch was connected. Neither of them understood what had just happened, but they didn’t care, all that mattered right now was that she was with him, and he with her, that’s all that mattered.


Taming the Fire Heart. pt.3

[Author Note: I wasn't to happy with this chapter, it's more of a filler before the final one. But I hope you guys enjoy it as tension begins rising!]

The Morning came almost too swiftly for the two unicorns. Twilight and Nova woke up all cuddled together and feeling rather happy. They felt so right and just wanted to let the day slip by just them together by the pool of water. But this would not be as they heard someone giggling,

“Well aint that just sweet.” Said a country-sounding filly, of course, it was none other than Applejack. “It seems you two had a mighty fun night eh?” Applejack said and laughed a bit as she watched the two love birds as they were waking up. It was only a mere second before either of them realized they were sleeping on applejacks farm.

“Oh! I’m so sorry AJ.” Twilight said as she got up, “Didn’t mean to get in your way.” Twilight began straightening out her mane as Nova slowly got up and stretched.

“Ya’ll don’t worry about it Twi.” AJ said and looked around, “You two lovebirds keep outta trouble now ya hear?” She said before leaving them alone, assuming they wished to be by themselves.

“Well, at least we aren’t in any trouble.” Twilight said as she turned to Nova who seemed to be done yawning, but not to happy,

“You didn’t need to lie to me to get me out here ya know?” He said, a soft smirk showing he was merely being playful. Though would have admitted he was a bit excited about the idea of a new lead.

“Oh.. I didn’t, I just wanted you to know how I felt. Strong wasn’t it?” She said with a hint, her look giving off the fact she was thinking something,

“Alright Twi, spit it out already!” Nova said eagerly, wanting to know what exactly she was getting at.

“Well, you noticed the bond we felt was strong, what if we could use THAT bond to bind Discord?” Nova blinking and thought about it, yea it would make a powerful bond, but,

“But how the hay are we supposed to turn that into a spell? From my studies, unicorn magic dosen’t have many limits, but manipulating feelings is certainly a limit hard to breach, and mostly a limit that nopony wants to.” Twilight nodded, seemed she had an answer. Most likely expecting this response from him, she knew him to well.

“Spells exist to mess with emotions, and I was wondering if you would use this as a lead? If we can figure out how to combine the two, discord will never be a problem ever again!” It sounded perfect, almost to perfect.

“I believe some research is needed before we attempt anything.” Nova said, he didn’t like the idea of trying this, but he knew it was the best they had for the moment. Instead of using magic, the two just walked back together and discussed random things as they went. After the two made it back to the library, Nova took some time to himself to write a letter. Levitating out a paper and quill, he began writing on it.

“Dear Princess Celestia, Last night was amazing! Twilight and I shared our first kiss and it felt, well, amazing! I don’t understand these feelings and I wanted to get some advice from you on what exactly is going on. It’s new and strange, but I really am enjoying it. Twilight also mentioned maybe we could use a bond like ours to bind away Discord, it’s a lead we hope to make a success. Can’t wait to hear your reply. ~ Your most faithful student, Nova Glitz.
Nova then focused his magic and wrapped it up, slowly watching it vanish into dust as he sent it away. He hoped the princess wasn’t too busy right now, because he waited for about 3 minutes to see if maybe he’d get a response. Nova finally decided to leave, getting up he reached for the dorr when a large flash of light glared from behind. He knew exactly who it was,

“Celestia!” he turned and bolted over, giving her a hug and smiled, “What are you doing here?” Celestia would only give her soft laugh,

“I’m here to make sure my little Nova doesn’t get himself into something bad. I read your letter and found it interesting.” Nova had so many questions right now he just wanted to ask, but couldn’t really spit them out. Celestia simply hushed him with her hoof and took a seat herself,

“Listen to me closely, you will want to hear every word of what I am about to tell you.” Nova moved in closer, listening intently, “The feelings you are experiencing are love. It is not uncommon for one’s at your age, for you are growing into a fine stallion and are no longer a mere colt. The same applies for Twilight as well. You both zre growing up, and as you grow older you’ll begin to feel these things, From th-“ Nova suddenly cut her off,

“We get married and have a family?” He felt a little, embarrassed for doing that to his teacher. “I’ve heard my parents tell me this story when I was younger.” Celestia simply smiled,

“This is different,” Nova immediately went back to listening attentively. “Love is a very good thing, and it has flaws. Love many times is mistaken for a “puppy love” or even worse, lust.” Nova gave a nod to show he understood. “These things Nova are very tricky and delicate. You must handle the heart of another with care or else you risk breaking it.” Nova knew how bad that could get. Looking out the window briefly, he saw Firebolt gliding around, and it hit him like a brick wall once he realized he had the EXACT feelings for her.

“Celestia, is it possible to love more than two mare’s at once?” He said curiously, trying to avoid the fact he came into such close contact with the girls. This only got a giggle out of the princess,

“Oh… so you have your eye’s on more than just Twilight do you?” Nova gave a blush and nodded, looking out the window once more and pointed his hoof at Firebolt,

“I had a run-in with her as well… those exact feelings. The closeness was great!” Celestia gave a nod, she was very familiar with what he was speaking of, “Twilight said we would use the bond to bind Discord forever, but only if the two loved each other.“ He thought hard for the moment, “I would be one of them, because like you I’m not going pass away. It’s our gift remember?” Celestia smiled,

“Then it is up to you to figure out who the one you wish to spend forever with will be, as all of Equstria’s harmony will depend on it. Good luck my student!” Celestia said before vanishing swiftly, obviously she had other things to do and left the poor unicorn to fend for himself.

“Oh great… Now I gotta fall in love, this day just keeps getting better.” He said before going down into the library, maybe a few books could give him a pointers. Scanning the books, he found one that caught his eye, slowly bringing it to himself, “A stallion’s guide to finding love… might as well try it.” He said, laying in the middle of the floor and began reading. He quickly found some really good clues and pointers that he had to remember, but he was quick to finish, “Not bad… My best option would be Twilight, but she’s hard-headed and always has to be right, not to mention stubborn, that could be a problem. Then Firebolt, I don’t know how she feels about me, but she sounds perfect for this to work.” All the while, Twilight overheard him, and didn’t look very pleased,

“You know… you should learn to stop talking to yourself.” Nova quickly jumped, looking over to see her,

“Oh hey Twi! I didn’t see you there.” He kind of knew by her look she wasn’t the happiest of fillies,

“So I’M stubborn and hardheaded? Have you taken a look at yourself lately? You’ve been acting like a big know-it-all.” She made an imitation of him, “Oh… we must run test and study first.” She turned back to an angry pony and gave a bit of a glare, “I think if there’s anything wrong between us, it’s you!”

“Me?! It’s thanks to me that we’ve been able to get this far! If we didn’t take certain precautions that I said, things could have gone very wrong!” Twilight just rolled her eye’s,

“I had plenty of precautions. You were just overthinking it like you always do!” Said Twilight, not backing down at all, how dare he tell her she was wrong?

“Oh yea? Then how come I’m always saving your behind from hurting yourself then huh?”

“Well I don’t need you to look out for me! I handle myself just fine!” Nova wanted to argue, but instead used one of Twilight’s tricks. Putting a door between them and slamming it, Twilight grew furious at that,

“So THAT’S how it’s going to be is it?” She turned around, “Fine! I’ll figure out how to do it WITHOUT your help!” She then stomped off and Nova sighed, he was right, sadly enough so was she. But not for long, he was going to go find Firebolt, this was going to work! Getting up with a new resolve, he left the library in search of his Pegasus friend.

[Author Note: I wasn't to happy with this chapter, it's more of a filler before the final one. But I hope you guys enjoy it as tension begins rising!]

Taming the Fire’s Heart Final Chapter

Nova slowly began making his way out of the library. He needed to blow off some steam after the encounter with Twilight, which wasn’t pretty. He took a step out the door and looked around, taking a deep breath of fresh air. It was such a lovely day, partially cloudy with a possible chance of rain. Nova began trotting as trying to shrug all the stress off, but he didn’t know he was going to get some help. Firebolt had heard them fighting and saw it from out the window, snooping little Pegasus. Once she saw Nova she flew down and landed gracefully in front of him,
“Hey Nova!” She said with a happy tone, “Are you doing alright? You don’t look so good.” Nova smiled, yet simply walked past her.

“I wonderful… just perfect.” He said with a sarcastic tone. He just kept on walking, but got followed by the curious Pegasus,

“Let me guess, you argued with Twilight didn’t you?” Nova looked at her like he was busted or something,

“You could hear that from outside? I didn’t think you coulda heard it from out here.”

“Naw, I just so happened to be just outside the window, listening, after I heard yelling I got curious. Please don’t be mad?” She seemed worried, afraid to harm her friendship with him it seemed. Oh Firebolt, she was so sweet and that look in her eyes made her irresistible. Deep down he wanted to be mad at her for spying, but he just couldn’t.

“It’s ok, I’m glad you overheard.” Nova pondered a few thoughts that decided to show themselves to him. Twilight was so easy to fight with him, she was never emotional, but then again she was never insulted either. Nova began pondering emotions and relationships, how they mingle together and change things. If she did have feelings for him, she would have been hurt instead of angry. Her anger was a sign maybe she didn’t truly love him and it was what Celestia called a “Puppy Love”. But to his knowledge Twilight never dated and may have reacted out of shock. But Twilight never reacts emotionally like that! This love thing was a real doozy.

“You look in some really deep thought you know that?” Firebolt said to Nova, this only caused him to park his thought train and chuckle,

“Well yea, I got a lot on my mind right now.” He looked up at the clouds again, “Way to much going on.” Firebolt moved closer and pressed up against him,

“Well if you need anypony to talk to, I’m here for you.” Firebolt said softly. This made Nova smile, the signs were too obvious to deny, it had to be her. He smiled and grinned a bit, turning to look at her,

“So, what are you planning on doing this evening?” This took Firebolt by surprise, and his change of attitude made her just a bit uncomfortable,

“I don’t have anything planned, why?” Nova got a bit excited and just wanted to jump and down in his mind, but the feeling of those butterflies in his stomach kept him on land.

“Well, if you weren’t busy, I was wondering if you’d, you know, maybe wanna hang out?” Firebolt knew exactly what he was trying to say and suddenly giggled at him,

“Nova, are you trying to ask me on a date?” Nova only responded with a nod and a bit of a blush, feeling a bit bashful to suddenly ask her that, “Well of course I would!” She said and hugged him, “We can start right now! Where do you want to go first?” He chuckled as he thought about it, honestly he had no idea what he was going to do.

“Well, I…” then something hit the tan unicorn like a brick wall, in his mind of course “Hay! Have you ever been to a spa?” Firebolt simply shook her head at him,

“Can’t say I have, is that where you were wanting to take me?” He nodded to her and she suddenly giggled, “You’re silly, we can’t go unless we have a reservation first.” Nova felt like slapping himself, of course you need reservations! He fortunately remembered that the spa ponies did owe him for the time he helped their business out, and perhaps it was ok to brag a bit.

“Well don’t forget who I am, I have connections and I can get us in there easily!” He held a bit of a proud tone, but the voice in his head was saying, “You better hope you can.” Nova began trotting away with the grey pegasus in tow. It wouldn’t be long before they both would reach their destination at the spa. Nova walked inside and looked around, good, it wasn’t busy at all. A pink pony at the counter saw him and waved,

“Excuse me, are you here for an appointment? The pink mare asked kindly. Nova shook his head as he walked up to the desk,

“No. But if you’re not busy or ya don’t have any appointments, I was wondering if you could get me and my, um, date in for a relaxing afternoon?” The pink pony leaned over to see who he was talking about. FireBolt had stayed near the entrance and was looking around the spa, finding it rather interesting.

“Wow, nice pick Nova.” She said, giving him a compliment,

“Oh yea, I think she’s a keeper.” He chuckled and looked back at her. Firebolt eventually looked their way and tilted her head. Both ponies quickly went back to talking to each other which made Firebolt blush ever so slightly.

“We aren’t doing anything today, so feel free to go on back and enjoy yourself, consider it on the house.” She gave him a wink. This made Nova very happy, his plan worked!

“Hey Firebolt! Let’s go in!” He said and motioned to the curtains. The shocked Pegasus bounded after him in surprise and walked right up next to him,

“Ok, you gotta tell me how you just pulled that off.” Firebolt said with pure amazement, what just happened was rare and not easy to do. Nova gave a laugh at her and looked ahead,

“Skill, and my very persuasive speaking capabilities.” He stuck his tongue out at her to be playful and got a giggle from Firebolt.

“Well then mister persuasive, what are we doing first?” He almost felt like laughing,

“Silly, it’s a spa, you just lay down and they will do the work for you. Like this!” He said and nearly flopped onto a nearby bed. Firebolt didn’t flop on her bed, but did something similar. The two ponies enjoyed the next few hours of massages and some weird things, but once they left they felt very refreshed. Firebolt took in a deep breath and sighed,

“Wow, I think we should do that again sometime, that was amazing!” Nova looked over to her and nodded,

“I’m not gonna argue with ya, that was great.” The happy unicorn said while trotting along with her, almost feeling like bouncing like Pinkie Pie did. “I don’t know about you, but I’m starving! Let’s go eat!” he said and bounded off to the fanciest restaurant in town, making the Pegasus chase after him. Once the two had made their way inside the doors, Firebolt simply looked around with amazement,

“Wow… just wow, you’ve got some pretty fancy taste.” She said and looked at him in a funny manner,

“Must be a unicorn thing, is that bad?” He said and tilted his head at her silly face,

“Oh no! That’s wonderful! I’m finally glad to meet myself a fine stallion with some proper taste rather than cheap sweets and fast-foods.” She said as they were being led to a table. Both took their seats and began browsing through the menu,

“Feel free to get whatever ya want, I got it covered.” Nova said while studying his menu. She gave him a nod as she looked over the nice things they had. It took her a moment to decide what she wanted. Nova saw her put down the menu and got the waiter’s attention,

“What shall I get for you tonight good sir?” The waiter said with a smile,

“I believe I’ll have your Eggplant steak with a side of the sweet corn, on the cob please.” Nova said, Firebolt smiled at him and giggled,

“Oh, have a bit of a sweet tooth do ya?” she teased before turned to the waiter, “I’ll have your Maple Glazed Carrots.” She said with a soft smile at Nova, watching him slowly grin as she could predict what was coming,

“Oh.. and I have the sweet tooth do I? Seems you have the same problem with sweets.” Nova got a small laugh and Firebolt just shook her head at him. The two talked quite a bit about things over dinner and really learned a lot.

“Wow! You can really fly that fast?” Nova said a bit shocked, listening to Firebolt tell him the story of her “Fireboom”. She nodded,

“Turns out any pegasus can do it if they go fast enough. What is made depends all on the pony.” Nova nodded eagerly as he took in the information,

“I’m going to have to try that sometime! I’m pretty strong so I’m sure I could do it.” Firebolt just blinked, then fluttered her wings out at him. Nova just stared at them for a few seconds, then to her. “Oh yea, wings.” He wondered if he possibly had a solution to that problem, time to get studying. After dinner the two lovebirds made their way home and kept close to each other, happy to be together right now. The two ponies were growing very close and even started showing displays of affection to each other randomly through the rest of the evening. Late into the night the two finally went into the Library, Nova was extra cautious as not to wake up Twilight in the process. They went to his bed and decided to share it, snuggling up together as Nova would pull the blanket over them.

“Goodnight Firebolt…” he said with a smile. The grey Pegasus turned and gave him a kiss on the cheek,

“Goodnight to you to.”

--- Next Morning ---

Nova woke up the next morning with a large yawn. Blinking his eye’s lazily as he looked out the window, once again he’d slept late. That wasn’t uncommon however; the unicorn was a heavy sleeper. He rolled over expecting to see his friend asleep, but the Pegasus was gone. Sitting up and giving a yawn, then stretching, the tan pony gazed around to room as he was trying to get the groggy morning sleepiness off his eyes. The only thing he saw was a rather amused looking Twilight, “Oh great” he thought to himself, “What did she do this time?” He simply shook his head, not liking the smug look she had,

“Can I, help you Twi?” He said with a yawn,

“It seemed like you rather enjoyed yourself yesterday, having fun while I do all the work huh?” Nova blinked, mind being a tad bit slow. Was she watching them?

“What in the hay are you talking about? Yesterday was about the research!” He said swiftly in his defense.

“Oh sure, hanging out with that Pegasus all day was research? You really expect me to believe that?” Nova gave her a nod,

“If we want this spell to work, we need 2 ponies that are in love. And I think Firebolt is the best suited for me, she’s a wonderful Pegasus with a great heart.” Twilight just rolled her eye’s at him,

“And what about me huh? Why do you think I got you alone that night? Because I wanted to be that one in your life, that special mare for you.” Nova looked over, and all he saw was her giving him the guilt trip. Sure he owed her for opening his mind, but it wouldn’t work.

“I’m sorry Twi, I’ve made my choice, I did want to be with you, but it just won’t work out between us. You understand right? Me and you argue too much to make a strong bond.” Nova attempted to appeal to her logical and better side. Twilight only shook her head,

“Your plan has a major flaw buddy, because after my talk with Firebolt, I doubt she’s ever going to loo you in the eye again” This caught Nova by surprise, what was Twilight thinking?! Nova felt a bit of anger rising in him,

“Twilight… what did you do?” he said through a bit of a glare.

“Oh, I told her the truth, about that night we had, and that she’s nopony special to you. I said she’s merely a pothole on the road.” Twilight held a bit of an evil grin,

“Twilight? Why would you do that?!” he said, bolting off past her and ran outside, he had to find Firebolt and fast. Twilights voice however, stopping him from leaving,

“Don’t go looking for her, I think she went back to Cloudsdale.” Nova began shuffling through his pile of books, looking for something,

“Where is it? Where’s my book on pegasai at?” Nova said while frantically searching through his stuff. Eventually finding a book and began reading, “Please Celestia, let this spell work.” Nova’s horn began glowing, and a light began swirling around him. Soon the spell was cast and nova, no longer being a Unicorn alone now spread a fine pair of Pegasus wings, “YES! IT WORKED!” The now half pegasai/unicorn charged through the door, leaving a shocked Twilight behind. It felt a bit odd at first, but he quickly got the hang of it. Flying was harder than it looked, but surprisingly easier as well. He took off as fast as he could, the pegasus could have sworn he was about to do a sonic rainboom from the speed he was going. Suddenly he felt a odd tingle, as if he was getting closer to her. Gazing up ahead he was a moving dot, growing bigger and bigger and flying very slowly. Possibly a sad Pegasus, or even Firebolt! Wings beat harder and harder as he was able to make out the shape, a grey Pegasus, yellow mane, it WAS her! The excited flying unicorn yelled,

“FIREBOLT!” he called out, the Pegasus looking back shocked before she would get tackled into a cloud. Oh wow, those things we’re soft. Spreading out his wings, he looked down as her and grinned, “And where do y’all think you’re going in such a hurry?” Firebolt just looked up at him, eyes were wet as it appeared she was crying recently. Nova felt like crying to, just looking at that face, and what Twilight said most likely broke her heart.

“You…. You came for me?” She managed to stutter out, “Twilight said you… you didn’t love me.” Nova gently shushed her,

“Firebolt… I don’t care what Twilight said. And I must confess some things to you.” Firebolt nodded, a bit worried what he was about to say. “I thought I loved Twilight, but it was merely a feeling of lust. However, when I’m with you it’s not the same, it feels much more than those feelings. A bond, and strong emotional connection.” He smiled, feeling butterflies in his belly, “Firebolt… what I’m trying to say is… I love you. And I would be a fool not to wish for you to be at my side forever.” Firebolt gasped softly, she couldn’t believe what she just heard!

“How…how can you be so sure?” Nova thought for a moment and grinned,

“A certain friend of mine once told me, love is not only the feelings you get when you are close, but also the heartache from when you are apart. And I’ve never felt so much heartache when I realized you left, so I knew the feelings were true.” Firebolt just stared up at him, tears once again filling her eyes. But these were different, not those of sadness, but tears a joy. The happy Pegasus grabbed Nova and hugged him very close to her. Never wanting to let him go, she spoke softly as Nova returned to tight hug as it seemed that he too wanted to never let go.

“Nova, I love you to, and I never want to be apart from you ever again.” She said gently into his ear. Nova never felt happier than that moment, this lovely mare admitting her feelings for him was almost too good to be true, but it was true nonetheless. Nova felt those same tears she was shedding beginning to run down his cheeks. The two finally let go for a moment, and it wasn’t a few seconds before he pulled Firebolt into a deep kiss. Without a doubt in his mind, it was the most passionate kiss he ever shared with a pony, even more than the one he had with Twilight. But this was more than a kiss, this was love fully igniting between the two. It felt like hours before they parted, both blushing madly before Firebolt attempted to change the subject,

“So… when did you get wings?” Nova looked at them, they we’re stiff and sticking out to their full length. Odd behavior which he knew he would need to study. Firebolt only giggled as she knew exactly what that meant.

“Well, I remember a flight spell twilight used once on her friend. So I found one of my own, it was very hard to cast, but I managed it, and now I have wings until I choose to remove them with the spell.” He smiled, “Now we can fly together! And live in the clouds! And-“ Firebolt put her hoof over his mouth, silencing the now happy and talkative uni- whatever he was now, above her.

“Let’s just, stay here for a while and relax. I don’t wanna do anything just yet.” Nova agreed and snuggled up to her, smiling happily. This was turning out to be the best day EVER!

-Epilogue-

FireBolt and Nova grew very close from that moment forward. Both ponies eventually moved into a cloud home together. Nova never undid the flight spell and permanently kept his wings at the cost of weakened magic, but he didn’t care as long as he was with his true love. Nova would succeed in casting the spell and binding Discord forever. Firebolt became bonded to Nova as well and gained his gift so both would live forever with one another. In the future, they would become proud parents of a Pegasus colt known as SilverBolt. Twilight ended up calming down and found love with another, but that’s a story for another time.

[Author Notes: I kinda ended it suddenly, but I didn't wanna drag it out to long. I'm trying a new formatting for my stories as well so it's not a huge cluster of words. Tell me what ya'll think. And nopony worry, Firebolt's and Nova's adventures wont end yet.

 

settledown everypony, chapter 2 got added into the fic and i'm working on chapter 3. I may have it finished by tonight, dont know yet

 

I'm finally done! And overall i'm rather happy with how it came out. At some points I felt as if I coulda been more descriptive, or went into deeper detail in some areas. But i'm glad it's done and hope y'all like it
