I wasn't actually planning to buy this game. The previous games in the series were fun enough, but those were still just average though unique shooters. Far Cry 3 is different considering that instead of linear gameplay, the game is now completely free-roaming, filled with tons of sidequests and other things to do. The simplest things such as upgrading your gear requires effort. Some people could call this annoying, but i personally find it to be fun. It keeps the player busy. You also have the possibility to craft medicine either to heal you or give you a variety of advantages in combat, exploration, or animal hunting. The island you get to explore is HUGE. But don't worry, there are tons of vehicles you can use to explore all of it. You also gain experience points, from which you get skill points when you've gained enough. These points can be spent on skills to improve your character.

The story is awesome, though some elements are rather cliché. Jason Brody (that's you), along with his two brothers and several friends go on vacation to a tropical island for some extreme sports. They all get captured by a group of pirates, and are held at ransom. Jason escapes however, and with the help of some of the natives and a magical tattoo, helps his friends escape. The story is brought forth on a very realistic level which is amplified by the amazing voice acting, almost as if watching a movie. Infact, they should make one. I'd buy it!

You have a huge variety of weapons at your disposal, going from handguns to rocket launchers, even flamethrowers and bows with arrows you can customize to either explode or cause a fire. Weapons can be upgraded in both performance and appearance such as camo paint. Upgrading weapons is VERY similar to Call of Duty games, if not entirely the same. Fire-based weapons such as flamethrowers or Molotov cocktails are incredibely fun to use considering the fact that you're on a tropical island filled with all kinds of plantlife surrounding you. The fire behaves realistically and spreads out incredibely fast. This could give you a tactical advantage, but ofcourse it's also potentially dangerous. The game implemented the possibility to sneak through missions instead of running and shooting, though you're not always given an option during several missions. After upgrading your gear, you can carry up to four weapons at the same time, not including grenades, molotovs, or landmines, though you can only carry one of these types of weapons.

The entire game is first person, even when operating a vehicle. This makes for an incredibely fun and cinematic experience throughout the entire game. Even cutscenes are viewed from first person, so you'll never see your character in-game, though you can take a look at yourself in the very extensive logs, which provide you with information on any people, animals, vehicles, weapons, and a variety of collectibles you encounter.

The main character, Jason Brody, isn't your typical Marty Stu either. At the beginning of the game, he's actually afraid to hold a gun and even craps his pants (not litterally) during the tutorial mission of sneaking out of an enemy camp. As the story progresses, he learns to adapt to life in the jungle.

I have yet to play the Multiplayer, but i'll talk about that later. :p

I rarely do this, but i'm giving this game a whopping 10/10!

PS: Being a Ubisoft game, i've already spotted a handful of Assassins Creed easter eggs. See if you can find them all. :derpe:
