Favorite songs that were originally by someone else, putting a unique spin on the original or just doing a bang-up job I've got two on ma' brain "First We Take Manhattan" by R.E.M. (originally by Leonard Cohen), much more intense then the original, which I think better fits the theme http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1brqRtDjRI "I'll Take Care of You" by Drake (I usually hate Drake, but DAMN does this hit home, originally by Brook Benton), great atmosphere as well as an excellent guest vocal by Rihanna (I don't usually like her either, huh) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zzP29emgpg

I was worried that "A Whole Lotta' Rosie" would be butchered considering that it's one of my all-time favorite songs, and, let's face it, no one does guitar solos quite like Angus can, but I must say,"Bullet for My Valentine" pretty much nailed it. I especially loved hearing Matthew Tuck on the vocals, it just fits perfectly
CRAP! How the hell did I forget about that one? That might be my favorite! Marilyn Manson (aka Brian Warner) is the freakin' man, and he killed that one! Come to think of it, that whole album had a lot of good covers in my opinion, like Korn's "Kidnap the Sandy Claws" and Flyleaf's "What's This?"
I was only allowed 5 in a post so here's the other 2.

I was in a band (before I started working 2nd shift) and this was my favorite song we did. I know it's a little sloppy but this was just a practice and I think one of the first times we did this song. BTW, the other guitarist is my dad. Oh god. why did you choose one of those? It's so old and bad. I guess I should be careful what I wish for.
no way! Genesis were more original xD I will always prefer the original but there are those that do an exceptional job like Marilyn Manson heres one from seether
Does this count? It's only 16 songs in about 5 minuets.
