So any Metalheads out there? I myself am I big Metalhead, I like quite a few different kinds of Metal, though I tend to lean to a lot of Hardcore based Metal, Skramz and Post-Metal, though some other favorites of mine are Black, Sludge, and Doom Metal.

My 2 faves are Metallica and Iron Maiden. Others I like are Megadeth, Slayer (R.I.P. Jeff), Pantera (R.I.P. Dime), System of a Down, A7X, Bullet for My Valentine, Black Sabbath, Motorhead, Black Label Society, Guns N' Roses, Municipal Waste, Atreyu, and a whole slew that I am probably forgetting.

Most awesome metal experience... I got to hang out on Zakk Wylde's tour bus for about 30 min.!!! My brother's school resource officer was one of Zakk's security guards so about 10 of us got to chill with one of my favorite guitarists!!!

Yeah I should of known that but I was in fear of whether I was aloud to bring dead topics back up or not so I didn't bother looking for a thread, and that's reasonable to not like the genre, as Metal is an acquirred taste.

    my face when right now

    I love metal. A lot.

My favorite genres are progressive, symphonic, and folk. And of course everything needs a power twist.

    Favorite bands? Oh boy.
    - Between the Buried and Me
    - Haken
    - Ne Obliviscaris
    - Nightwish
    - Orphaned Land
    - Rhapsody of Fire
    - Sabaton
    - Symphony X

And those are just the biggest-name ones, I think. I have so many more but listing them out is too much work.

You can bring back old topics if the post bringing it back is relevant to it or you can make a one thread. Either works

Isn't everything an acquired taste. I like that one Brony dude. ISMBOF or however it goes. I also like the bad ass boss themes album. That's all instrumentals though. Metal and lyrics never really work for me.

Well yeah everything is a acquired taste, though Metal is a bit tougher to get into, my first Metal albums were Lateralus by Tool and Around The Fur by Deftones, so maybe you should check those albums out if you're willing to try and get into Metal.

We'll see. Suggesting music to me never really works. I use to listen to pantera. Do they count as metal?

    "pretty good"

    haw.

Their last three (well, three and a half lol) albums are some of the best music that's ever been written, imo. I have never ever had any band transform the way I hear music as completely has they have. Ever.

Of course, their music probably isn't for everyone. Even by prog standards, their brand of songwriting is... unorthodox. XD

Well...I think I can tell who your favorite band is I've only listened to Colors and Parallax II both were good albums. As for what my favorite band would be I'm working on a top 5 list, though I've taken a big liking for Boris and Converge so they'll be up at first and second.

I don't think I could bring myself to a Top 5 list of anything (though you did get me, BTBAM is my favorite band XD). Whether artists, movies, food, or whatever, I just like so many things that I can't narrow it down to a solid number. Usually what my favorite things are boil down to what mood I'm in. lol

If you like what you hear from BTBAM, you should also check out Haken and Ne Obliviscaris. Haken is only other band I know that does that eclectic song structure thing that dragged me into love with BTBAM, but their music is less intense (they're not a death band); and Ne Obliviscaris is uh... melodic black I think the best way to describe them (I've seen some critics label them progressive death but I don't agree). Their drummer certainly seems to think they're a black metal band. rofl

Easily two of my favorite recent bands.

Laugh if you want, but I like Dethklok.
Even if they are fictional band from an ultra-violent cartoon, the Dethalbums are quite good.

Classic metal and speed metal ftw best bands? Mettalica and dragon force... I don't really hAve much experience with metal due to the fact that I live in Indiana and have little to no data available... But my mother got xm radio and I've heard a lot of Metallica and I already loved dragonforce.

I've listened to Ne Obliviscaris before, yeah they're good, though I wouldn't say that they're Melodic Black, as I'd rather say that they are some sort of Prog Death band with Black influences.

Though as for my favorite band, in terms of Metal it's definitely Converge for me, with Jane Doe being my favorite album by them.

I've never heard Converge (till just now, lol. Currently YouTubing them). I've had little exposure to the whole metalcore or punk scenes. BTBAM was pretty metalcore on their early records, but again I prefer their newer material. Other than them I've only listened to The Ocean, which my favorite of their records is Anthropocentric. Until I get my ears on Pelagial, at least. Right now Tesseract says no.

Yeah, my personal favorite Metal is all of the stuff from the Hardcore scenes, though I do like other stuff as well (Doom, Black, Sludge, Skramz, and even Drone) the Hardcore stuff seems to stick out at me the most. The Ocean are a pretty good Post-Metal/Sludge Metal band and Tesseract aren't really my style as well, I could never really get into the whole "Djent" thing.
