Little experiment. I wanted to see what would happen if I sat down and forced myself to write something even if I didn't feel like it.

    —————————————

    Thump thump thump.

The electric blue mane bobbed about sharply with it’s attached head

    Thump thumpa thump thump.

A flash of crimson, the violet shades lowered briefly, red eyes focused intently on a panel full of switches and knobs

    Thumpthumpthump oontz oontz.

A pale white hoof glided over the assortment of ‘thingies’ and ‘whatsits’, touching down here and there, as if a wizard reading from his spellbook ‘cause it helps her to ‘feel the beat better’, you make magic with music, not the other way around

    Thumpcrashthump boom boom crash.

Another hoof landed on the nearby ebon vinyl, it’s steady rhythm halted with an abrupt WRRRRZZZT.

Vinyl Scratch looked over at the crowd of ponies that had filled up the dance floor, and every single one of them were looking at the DJ booth. The spotlights hanging above the floor lit them up in a multitude of rainbow colors, and flashed excitedly to a beat that was, at the moment, at the mercy of her hooves. She recognized the flashing pattern of the lights, the timing and the colors corresponding precisely to the exact section of the record that her hooftip was resting on.

“Hey, what gives!?” cried one of the ponies on the dance floor. She was lit up blue, then pink, then white, repeating, then darkness for a second. The lights came alive with a different pattern, and Vinyl Scratch knew that the routine would have started the next song by now. She could hear it quite clearly, as if the music had come alive, and slipped into her hoof where it was touching the record, and traveled through her and emanated and radiated and bounced around in her head, making it bob up and down slightly.

“Hey Scratch, you gonna play us some music or what?”

She just kept bobbing her head “Yeah, it’s comin’ kids.”

The dance floor’s flashing lights kept up their happy flickering

Flick flick flash flaaaasssh, Flick flick flash flaaaasssh, blink blinkblinkblink blink blink strrrroooooooobe

Indifferent to the sudden lack of audio as demanded by their master. Flick, flick, flash. They danced and danced, while the ponies below stood, sweating, growing nervous in their stillness. They needed the music back. They wanted to dance like those colorful happy lights too.

She re-adjusted the light’s motion with some minor unicorn magic, and gave a triumphant shout, the assembly of wires metal and glass now back in step with the rest “What are you doing out of step, you punk!”.

Flick fli-ck fl-ash “AH-HA! There it was! Hey, you!” The horn on her forehead glowed with a subtle, sparkly, and not so flashy pale blue aura. So did one of the lights on the ceiling, slowing it’s dance as Vinyl’s hoof slowly started to let the record spin again.

    Www-uuub www-uuub uuuub-wwwuubb

“Hey come on DJ!” This pony was stamping her front hooves and groaning. A couple others were starting to move away from the dance floor.

Vinyl pushed on the turntable once, flicking forward to the next song, the speakers lining the walls presenting the crowd with a staccato of starts, stops, and wipes as she lined the music back up with the lights.

Www-ub wuu-b WUB BOOM boom BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM whudd whudd wudwudwud Thump Thump ThumpathumpaBOOM

The bright rainbow dancers had their dancing partner back, and now looked even happier than before as they flashed and twirled and lit up the ponies beneath them. Vinyl stood on her back hooves and hopped onto her front ones, doing a little spin on one hoof as she shouted “Woooo! Yeah!” She looked out at the dance floor and saw that it was still full of ponies, though now mimicking the lights above. Spinning and changing pattern and rhythm, looking rather bright, and not just from her programmed lighting scheme.

“Sorry about that all you sexy colts and fillies, technical difficulties and all, but forget all that *squee!*. Just shake yer coltdamn flanks! Hoo-yeah!” She spun around once more and smiled as she watched all the ponies on the dance floor move to the beat of her music. The smiles on their faces lit in endless patterns by the lights above, their hooves hitting the floor to the beat of the music she was making, nodding her head in time with their movements.
