So for anyone who's not aware, Bethedsa released a whole slew of new info on Fallout 4 at their E3 showcase. It's all in the video below, (starts about 1:04:30) and I won't try and list it all here; partly because there's so much of it, and partly because I can't stop swearing like a trooper from the excitement.

I'm sure some of you have already seen it, but I thought it'd good to have a place to collect Fallout-y chat.

    Little update:
Here's a video of the game running on the Xbox One; it gives a bit more info, including a more detailed look into how the power armour will work.

Yeah, the dog mechanics look more like Fable II or something. Not sure how you trade with a dog though...
Looks like you were right about the cryo vault too :D

They should do like classic Fallout, where you just talked in grunts with an intelligence below 3.

I don't deactivating security by telling the robot you like ice cream is pretty fun too.

Yeah, Fallout has a great sense of humour.

I've really warmed to the new art style too.

I think the style is cool too.

    as far as concerns go
I don't like that the main character talks
or the dialogue wheel that only gives 4 choices at a time.

Yeah, I agree; the possible lack of speech options worries me a bit too, unless the options change depending on skill/attribute/karma checks, so there essentially hidden options; that'd be cool. Also, I thought some of the facial animation didn't look too great, especially the Vault Tec guy, but the more I watch it, the less obvious it seems, so idk...

I don't mind the main character talking, but I'd probably play the talking bits from first person (which they said you could do, but didn't show for some reason), 'casue I think it would feel more Fallout that way. Also, it'd be nice if they had different voices to choose from, like in Saint's Row or something.

All in all though, I think the characters look pretty great; way more alive and substantial, what with all the little movements and the way they look around and stuff. Looks like there's going to be a ton of customization too. I'm very excited.

The more I see the more I see generic first person shooter.
like now there is hold button to hold breath when firing a scoped rifle.
And hopefully they decide against the no skills thing.

I think they're just improving the admittedly pretty shoddy gunplay of 3 and NV; I don't think they've shifted all focus onto it though.

There were a few aliens in the concept art they flashed up in the presentation, so I'm pretty confident they'll be in there in some capacity.

I already don't like this game.

It's delaying the new Elder Scrolls game.

Haven't you heard? Bethesda's dropping TES in favour of Fallout.

They're just going to keep updating ESO and adding mudcrab armour DLC.

I nearly cried with joy when I realised the whole trailer was voiced by Ron Perlman. And also when I realised it signified a new Fallout game.

Fallout 4 soon g:omg:imme now plz thx
TL;DR- Catbert is running Bethesda, Pipboy CE scarcity has stolen my soul. Hurray for Fallout 4 but will have to send out some fools to the mattress :magic:

My local EB store clerk let me down and robbed me off my shot at getting the pipboy CE, every visit to the store about 3x a month for 3 years my EB clerk and coincidentally neighbor, would ask me if I wanted to pre-order anything and EVERY time I said "Fallout 4 Collector's Edition please, title pending" every time he made me wait while he actually checked the computer, oh no you'd be surprised how far in advance we can do it now....nope not yet. After E3 announcement I rushed to nearest EB the clerk checked the computer and said that "We aren't taking any pre-orders for the Collector's Edition yet but you can pre-order the game now", woke up next day to find out the clerk was just a complete moron and while I foolishly waited patiently for years willing to throw all my money at Bethesda, all the pipboy CE's avail through Online pre-order went faster then comic con tickets. Between my boy failing to look out for me locally, mall clerk inexcusable ignorance of latest news for his store, and Bethesda forcing scarcity, leaking release info and hundreds of oversea buyers using redirect service to stealing from US allotment of pipboys. Argh seriously Bethesda making me choose between never getting this Pipboy or having to go Jingle all the Way on some fool, Not cool! No Pre-order cash for Mr Potter, he is ruining Christmas again! For making me wait this long for the game then offering an impossible to get collectible is such a big middle finger to the fan base that I'm going support and promote the Pre-Owned sale of games even at EB's inflated rates. Publisher/Producers don't deserve our money, Hell, Steams got some pretty legit games made by 1-3 guys in their basements . EB will get to keep the whole $55 from my fallout 4 purchase for Xbone and once I get PC copy I'll sell the console one back to EB just so that Bethesda gets hosed again on the sale, then eventually I'll rebuy 4 to fill out game collection.

To be fair, I heard Todd Howard talking about the Pipboys, and he explained that they were completely overwhelmed by the demand for them. They ended up making so many more than they initially planned, that the manufacturer they had the manufacturing contract with literally couldn't produce any more.

I don't think it was a deliberately low supply; even if you hold a cynical view of the company as a money-grabbing business (which I don't think they are particularly guilty of), then they could have made a load more money on pre-orders if they'd have had more CEs to sell. It makes no sense for them to have done it on purpose.

Also, I think saying that Bethesda don't deserve any of your money just because their games take a long time to make, and you couldn't get the collectors edition, is a bit unfair. The money you pay them is for the millions of hours of hard work they put into making the game, and that's the same regardless of which edition you buy. They're not rip-off artists (unlike some game companies), and personally I'd say the game and all the planned support for it looks like it's more than worth the money.

tl;dr Bethesda sided with scalpers against the fans, so this fan is taking back a piece of skin from them for the crime.

I saw the vid you were talking about, they claimed that their demand for quality was so high on the product that it wouldn't allow them to seek out more production sources. Was the same speech almost exactly Sony and Nintendo gave when the PS3 and Wii were launched. If Bethesda just said that more would be made eventually, as was the case for PS3 and Wii, I wouldn't have any issue here at all. HBO Entertainment made my sister wait on backorder for over 2yrs for a True Blood Fangtasia sign, if Beth took this route I would still find this acceptable. I would even have accepted limited run only X number will be produced, assuming that the product would actually hit store shelves. But instead they came up with arbitrary allotment numbers for the vendors and another allotment number for US total sales, which means that every vendor Bethesda markets to was told this in advance. Which means as soon as they clock struck 12:01a and the pre-ordering went live, many disreputable vendors with sophisticated bots or network friends were online a buying up their competitors pre-orders. Soon as Bethesda decided that production costs were going to limit them to only 2 runs of the product, the morally right thing for them to have done was cancel the preorder program for the Collector's Edition. Release Pipboy for instore purchase only; which is exactly what Sony and Nintendo did and is the common practice in the industry. Even Star Wars Galaxies CE went to instore only when EB found out they were only getting shipped 3 per store. Bottomline they didn't give the fans a fair chance to get the Pipboys here, and it's that injustice I'm intent on punishing.
