The Pokemon Series Official Thread Ah Pokemon. A craze that started out with a anime and spawned many games. The first few gens being treasured favorites in many 90s kid's lives. Those who grew up with Pokemon since the first know about the Kanto and Johto games. They were the first to gens to allow to play as a trainer and explore the world of pokemon yourself. We learned how to fight and capture pokemon. We even learned to trade to get other pokemon we need or don't get in our versions of the game. It was a craze that exploded into a mass phenomenon. That love for pokemon has grown a community into what it is today. Even now with new technology that expands on and even changes what we know about pokemon, is making our experiences more immersive. One game that we now have is Pokemon Go. More about that in the other topic about it. Let's keep this thread about the handheld games and not the phone game. Update: The new Pokemon Sun & Moon thread is up to post in. Just have a look and talk about the games there. You can still talk about them here too if you wish. As for console game Pokemon games, you are welcome to talk about them here too. They will not be listed in the voter box, as that is for the handhelds. Also it would be too much work working in the console games into it. I figured to add this detail, thanks to Rexhuga bringing it to my attention. Anyway, discuss away and keep it clean.
I like all the games. Though... I want to know what happened to Pokemon Z. Seriously. All regions had a 'third' game. Kanto had Yellow, Johto had Crystal, Hoenn had Emerald, Sinnoh had Platinum, and Unova had Black 2 & White 2. So why isn't Kalos getting one? Makes absolutely no sense to me. Still looking forward to Sun/Moon though I guess. I just wish I had a legitimate explanation for what happened to Pokemon Z but clearly I'm never getting one. P.S.: I've heard too much about Pokemon Go so I want to try that too but I have no advanced cell phone to do so.
You can talk about console releases if you like. I'm just saying that if you wanna talk about Pokemon Go, I got a thread for that already. It is a sequal, but one that's in the same gen and region as the previous. Just new trainers. It's stupid really.
@rexhyuga: No problem~ All fans of the Johto series games will know this pain all too well. The third gym is by far the most dickish because of it's leader being a Rollout happy idiot. Seriously, Whitney rarely does any other attack with Milktank aside from Rollout and to add insult to injury, Milk Drink. It really doesn't matter what starter you use either. She'll weed wack you no matter what with Rollout. To make it worse... When you DO actually manage to beat her, she then whines and cries like a *squee!* because she lost. Not even giving you the badge you deserve for surviving her BS with Milktank till you walk away, get told to talk to her again, and then get it. Edit: Anyway, BIG UPDATE! There is a video released about new Alola Forms and Z-Moves out! Here is the video~ But yeah. Eggsecutor, Vulpix, Ninetails, Sandshrew, and Sandslash all got new Alola forms. There are also new features and abilities that you'll get to see and try out with this game. Take a look!
To get technical, the Kanto set of games were 4 in total. Green being the Japan Only copy that was never released in America outside translated imports. This is why I'm counting it in the Kanto Gen set. As for why X & Y don't have a third game, that's a mystery to me too. My guess is because Nintendo knows the series is dying out. Sun & Moon is the official end to the Pokemon series a whole. We've had a good run with it, but it looks like Nintendo is ready to pack it in for the main series games.
they are? huh..... I thought they'd never let go of it. mostly because I'm pretty sure it's still making them a lot of money..... but I guess they're smarter than I thought. and sun and moon would be a good place to stop, from the way it looks.
Nintendo will probably milking the Pokemon cash cow long after Sun & Moon, but the main series is ending. They'll be doing spin offs more probably and remaking older games, kinda like what they've already done for Kanto, Johto, Hoenn. That's my guess though. IDK what will happen for sure.
Do you have evidence to support this? Because I can't/won't believe anything like this without evidence. I don't see the Pokemon main series games ending. Ever. We'll eventually end up with 1,000+ pokemon.
maybe one day but that day isn't soon I really would like more spin offs though same game with just a bunch more poorly designed pokemon added has been boring since they did it the first time.
The main Pokemon series is not ending any time soon. Maybe as we know it, yes, with them changing up the gyms and such, but I don't foresee them ending Pokemon. Nintendo doesn't even control the Pokemon Company, they have around 30% of the shares, yes, but Pokemon is owned by themselves.
*sigh* That's what I've been hearing that Sun and Moon are the ending games in the series. If it's true, then there is going to be egg all over everyone's faces who though it would never die. Honestly, a series cannot last forever and there is not much more Nintendo or Pokemon can do with it's series before they run it into the ground any further. Though I say that assuming that Pokemon will have over 1000 pokemon before it ends is both a deluded and very exaggerated estimation. I agree with that. I can stomach the weird pokemon well enough, but it getting annoying and bring. I would like to see the third installment in the Orre series, to be honest. I never said that Pokemon as a whole is going to drop if the face of the earth, I'm just saying the main series that introduces new regions ends with Sun & Moon. I have no doughts there are going to be other things with Pokemon however. I do recall saying to Cerali that they will still milk the Pokemon cash cow for what it's worth, just probably not with anymore main series games.
And what makes you so certain that Pokemon will remain immortal till the end of days? Tell me how you know that all knowing sir of the future generations, so I can bow down to you undeniable logic.
I guarantee you this is not the last main series Pokemon game. The same was said about X and Y, as well as ORAS. The fact that it looks like a good place to leave off isn't fact enough, as that's completely subjective, depending on who you ask.
*sigh* Get what you are saying but I'm having an issue with LostSanity thinking Pokemon will never die at all period. I don't dought we will see Pokemon stuff for a few years to come but it'll end eventually, whether the neigh sayers like it or not. Look, I really don't wanna talk about this anymore. I just put a new video up talking about new Alolan Pokemon. I want to bring back the convo on the games themselves and not derail to the life span of the series anymore.
Oh, yeah, Pokemon will end eventually, but I don't foresee it anytime soon. ANYWAY I really like how Marowak is one of those dancers who have the flaming rods, I think that's pretty cool. I'm hoping for some Megas soon!
