This site was amazing back in the day. Felt more like a home than my meatspace home. This site and this fandom honestly changed my life, and introduced me to people I still consider close friends.
Plus a few who weren't. This place was rather volcanic when I got here, and I don't mean in terms of membership. >^_^<
I joined a year after 2013, so I can somewhat see where you're coming from. This place has certainly changed during my presence when I was around. Members come and go, and unfortunately, disappear without a trace. It's rather bittersweet to me from my perspective. Lately I've been cherishing the memories I've made here and I gotta say, I want to re-live those moments in real time. I still made a handful amount of friends in the end over the years and how much the site and fandom greatly impacted me. But alas, people's interests can change overtime and events in real life effect it as well. (EDIT: Slightly off-topic, this is my 26,000th post, how strange is that.)
An offhand mention of this site from Nikkou was what ended up bringing me here. No excuse; I was bored.
Admitably, I am missing how things use to be too. It's partly why I don't post super frequently anymore. There really is no point to, other than to occasionally lurk.
Understandable. You did join during the waning point of EP's life. I joined around the time the decline just began to happen, so stuff was still rather active for a while.
The peak was Season 2, at least according to what I've heard. I joined on Alicorn Day, the Season 3 finale.
Honestly I don't doubt it. Season Two was about the point the brony fandom exploded and really grew~ The rest is history at this point.
I think the real breaking point was the Alicorn reveal. They spoiled that before Season 3 even started, and it was really divisive.
Having entered the series around the beginning of Season 5, I always thought getting worked up over something as minor as that was rather silly.
