Basel squinted. "He understood that? What did you say?"
He frowned. "I'm not giving you my pity. I'm offering my company."
"You don't believe me."
He frowned. "Just an offer.."
He grumbled, leaning back. "Whatever."
He looked up at her. "Can I join you?"
He gasped as if taking offense. "He is!"
She continued working as well. Her shoulders slowly relaxed and she hummed lowly.
He looked a stricken. "Of course not."
She nodded slowly. "If you say so."
"I do not think you're unintelligent," he said honestly, sitting beside her. "I think you're naive, but only because of how you were raised....
