He sighed with a small smile. "Fine." *** She took them. "Thank you. I'm excited to see your skills."
He didn't reply, setting to work.
"I suppose.." *** She waited for him, her hands folded.
"I'm going to run some tests. See what makes it unique."
"But nothing?" *** She nodded, taking a seat and setting down her things.
He took it, putting it back in its habitat. "There we go."
"Uh huh. Sure." *** She laughed. "Size eight."
He shrugged, taking a drink and getting to work. "It's fine."
He followed her. "That's myserious." *** She laughed as they approached the rink. "You'll have to prove me wrong."
He looked back at her. "This? No. This is for me."
He laughed. "Mortals?" *** "Oh, sorry. I don't believe you."
"You're welcome, I suppose," he said teasingly, getting up and going to pour himself a drink. "I'm going to test this. You're free to do whatever."
He squinted. "That hardly seems fair." *** "I believe you."
He shrugged. "Does that mean I was supposed to let them give you up?"
He frowned. "What are you afraid of?" *** She looked up at him. "You will teach me to be a great ice skater."
"I know you didn't want to go back. You're a person, too."
