Separate names with a comma.
She shook her head, frowning. “No, they’re mean. And snooty.”
It didn't take long for him to drift off, his arms around her loosening.
She looked around, frowning. “I don’t like this city,” she murmured to him quietly.
She nodded, finding his hand. “That’s a good idea.”
He seemed embarrassed, his hand cupping the back of her neck, but he fell silent.
She took it again. “I thought that would work. Okay, then we need a new plan.”
His wings glowed in response to her touch and he closed his eyes. “I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
She looked up at him with amusement. “Don’t worry, Z,” she said gently. “I know you’re not really flirting with me. I’m not your type, remember?”
“I’m sorry,” he murmured, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her close as he rested his head on her shoulder. “I’m so sorry.”
She started laughing even harder, coming around in front of him and trying to undo his arms more earnestly, walking backwards with ease....
This small act of intimacy made him break down a little and he shuddered, reaching up and covering his eyes so she wouldn’t see him crying.
“I don’t know,” she said smugly, coaxing his arm out of its folded stance. “Maybe your unconscious self knows something you don’t.”
He was frowning and he looked like he might be on the brink of tears. His shoulders were hunched and he was avoiding her gaze.
“Wasn’t it?” she replied, looking up at him. “‘Juniper, you’re beautiful. That might be forward, but it’s true.’ Plus, you held me!”
He laid on his side, shifting a little to accommodate the wings.
“I just think that you’ve already flirted with me so much already today,” she began innocently, “that you should be fine to flirt a little more.”
He looked up at her, his eyes impossibly sad. There seemed a lot he wanted to say, but he shook his head. “Let’s sleep.”
She faltered before giggling, shaking her head. “Official Blacksmith Bedroom Inspectors? You’re going to have to be the one to say that, that’s...
“It doesn’t matter if you did or you didn’t. You tried, and in those moments, that’s all that matters.” He seemed tired and he sat on his bed...
She took his arm instinctively, looking around curiously. “Official Blacksmith Inspectors...?”
