He relaxed, looking back at her and reaching back to cup her jaw gently. "Hi."
She gave him a small smile before pulling it back to her and taking a sip of her coffee. "So. What's next for us?"
That night, Ferris was sitting on the edge of the bed. His shoulders were hunched and his hands were on his knees as he stared out the window.
Her eyes fluttered open and she looked at him, resting her head on her hand. "Yeah. I used to go here all the time before I met you." She nudged...
He frowned at her before looking down at his lap. "...okay."
Her hands cupped her coffee mug and she closed her eyes for a moment, relishing the warmth.
"Plus, we have to get out of Sylvaele anyway. It wouldn't happen until we resettled anyway." Ferris sighed heavily, rubbing the back of his neck....
She smiled at him before the waitress came by with their orders, setting it down in front of them.
Ferris looked over at her, squinting. "You'd be willing to do this? I just got you back."
She laughed a little "Were they good memories?"
Alyssa hesitated, folding her hands. "I think that's pushing it, but... I don't know. I think a separation might be good."
She hesitated, resting her head on her free hand. "When did you... when did you start to realize?"
He exhaled, leaning back. "And," Alyssa added, her lips pursed. "I think you guys shouldn't be in a relationship for the first month."
She laughed a little, reaching across the table and taking his free hand. "Did you not remember me at all?"
He looked extremely uncomfortable, folding his hands. "I don't... I don't like this at all."
They paid and went to sit down, taking a booth.
He looked very upset, but Alyssa reached over, taking his hand. "Don't say no just because you don't like change, Ferris."
He squinted at her, folding his arms. "What jobs can I do?"
She frowned as they got to the front of the line. "Could I please have... a cinnamon roll and a hazelnut latte?"
He fell silent. "How will you pay for that, Alyssa?"
