“Maybe,” she said with a small shrug. “You pick the decorations. I don’t mind.”
Ferris shuffled out of the bedroom, looking sleepy. “What’s going on...?”
“I couldn’t take the clouds with me, Abel,” she replied quietly.”
“I don’t want to hear it!”
“Because none of this is permanent, you know? We’ll probably have to go somewhere else before the end of this year.”
“Ugh, stop telling me about your vanilla bedroom!”
Her shoulders were slumped at this point and she shook her head slowly. “I think that’s not a great idea.”
Her laughter deepened. “Ew, Fleur!”
She gave him a small, surprised smile before it quickly faded. “Let’s look around.”
Alyssa laughed a little. “Ew, gross.”
She laughed a little. “I think it might be a good idea just to get two small mattresses. A bed floor might be a problem.”
“Never mind, keep your secrets,” Alyssa said with a sigh.
She blinked, refocusing as she looked up at him. “What do you mean?”
“What do you think I meant?”
She had a tendency to touch everything, pursing her lips in thought as she considered it. Her gaze was thoughtful but unfocused.
“I just... maybe he’s spent some time here, Fleur.”
She looked through the bed frames, her brows furrowed. She was clearly distracted.
“Well, why would Abel think to come here instead of his own place?”
She nodded, pulling away from him almost nervously and continuing down the aisle.
