She reached out with her free hand and cupped his jaw gently, saying nothing.
"You just... you let your guard down," he said, leaning back against the seawall. "You believe the best in people."
She leaned against the wall as they got back to the bunker, sliding to the ground and clutching her leg.
"Well, you never have a problem being gentle," he said, sitting next to her. "I don't know. You're better at that than I am."
She bit her lip as she put weight on it, holding back a whimper. "Yeah. I have to. Once we get to the buildings, we'll be safe... come on."
He laughed, shaking his head. "Yeah. I guess I'm not very affectionate."
She looked around as the shot missed and she leaned on him, taking deep breaths. "You might have to, Abel. I'll slow you down."
"I'm glad I did too," he replied, looking down at her. "You were amazing, Fleur. I know you know that, but you were fantastic."
She pressed her hand to the wound, trying to stand. "I... I'm sure I can... Go on ahead, Abel, I'll catch up. I'll meet you at home."
He laughed, following behind her. “How many of those performances do you do a week?”

He straightened up, looking over at her. “I thought it might be nice to go down to the water? What do you think?”
She gasped, grabbing his hand and pulling him. “Come on.”
“It wasn’t stolen!” he said, sounding delighted. “I figured it wouldn’t be, but...” He shrugged, kneeling and grabbing the basket.
She turned to him and followed him, hugging herself nervously.
He led her over to the edge of the pier and looked down, tapping the ground for a moment before kneeling. He lifted a misplaced wooden floorboard,...
She looked stricken, stepping out into the open. “Oh my God. Oh my God. We got out.”
Something changed in his face, but he gave her a small smile before they arrived at the pier. "Okay. It may have been stolen."
She was quiet before she spoke, looking around nervously. "This seems okay..."
He looked back at her in surprise, squeezing her hand. "You okay?"
