They settled into their small space in the attic and Dahlia smoothed the sheets over the bed. "When do we go?"

She looked sad, looking around. “It’s necessary, I guess,” she said quietly.
"They need volunteers?" she said worriedly, sitting up. "What... can I volunteer? That's dangerous, isn't it? I can help."
She sat up suddenly, her brow furrowing. "Evacuate? Why? The water?"
She woke sleepily, looking up at him blearily. "Hmm... Cy?"
Victor nodded and headed out.
Victor laughed lowly. "Alright. Meet down by the river bank whenever you're ready to be put to work. I'll see you soon."
Victor sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "Yes, well... perhaps we should wake her? We could use everyone that we can get."
"You don't have to," Victor replied smoothly. "We just... we need volunteers." He paused, noticing a sleeping Dahlia on the bed. "Is she alright?"
