"I don't know the city too well," she said apologetically.

She nodded, closing her eyes and burying her face in his chest. "Okay. I love you."
"The bookstore, maybe?"
"Jesus. You didn't need me at all," he said conversationally, looking down at the Plaguer. "Why didn't you do that last time?"
She laughed slightly, yawning tiredly. "I'm going to sleep some more. Will you stay?"
"He likes me more," Addie commented, taking Warner's hand.
There was a silence for a long moment. "That was so *squee!*ing cool."
"Weeks, at least."
"Good, good boy, Ker," Addie continued, scratching behind his ears.
He was watching her with wide eyes. "Holy *squee!*, Mallory."
"I've been telling you that for years."
She got down and scratched under Ker's chin affectionately. "Good boy, Ker!"
He recoiled in shock as she made contact, his eyes widening. "Jesus Christ."
"I know, babycakes. It was very good."
"We're gonna party."
His eyes widened and he followed her, his arm reached out. "What...? Mallory!"
"Fortunately, yes."
