He looked down at it sadly, his brow furrowed.
She pushed it a little more before relenting. "It's not getting much bigger, Zad.."
"The babies are dead."
"Overwhelm myself? I won't. It's much less this time; don't worry about it."
He looked genuinely upset, looking down at them.
"Why do you keep 'hm'ing? Why don't you just say what you're thinking?"
"They're mothers!"
"I'm really okay right now," she told him. "I'm just pushing a little."
"How could you say that?" he asked, aghast.
She pushed the void a little further, squinting as she felt the pressure in her head building up.
He shook his head, looking distraught. "The mama lost her baby. That's terrible."
"And that's fine. But I'm impatient," she said with a shrug.
"You ate a baby!" he cried, sounding genuinely upset.
She paused before shaking her head. "I like to do things to an excess, okay? Beyond what should be done."
He gasped, his hand to his heart. "Aspen!"
"But I like to overdo things. God, Warner and I got together because..." she stopped short, frowning.
He squinted at her.
"Because I don't do things half-heartedly very often."
