“But you wanted to hurt me,” she replied, studying him. “Right? You were mad enough that you wanted me to hurt.”
He gave her a rueful smile. “I don’t think I could stop you at this point.”
"Are you sure?" she asked, tilting her head. "You wanted to hurt me, then."
"I've heard," he replied with a sigh. "You say it often."
She paused, as if thinking back on it. "Did you want to kill me?"
He seemed confused by this, his thumb brushing across her lower lip thoughtfully as he considered her. "I don't understand."
She paused, frowning. "You were pretty angry with me yesterday, huh?"
He flushed slightly, looking down at her with a frown. "Did I do something?"
As they arrived, Addie looked over at Zad. "Is it a hard thing to learn how to do?"
He looked confused, leaning back in the pillows. "How do you figure?"
She gestured for him to lead the way.
He kissed her back, but looked puzzled. "That's okay. We don't need to talk."
"Yes. I'm wearing my student pants," she responded warmly, looking up at him expectantly.
He frowned. "What?"
"Heya, teach! Ready?"
He looked down at her and sighed slightly. "I love you too."
She knocked three times.
He nodded, opening his arms to her. "Good choice."
She looked over her shoulder at him for a moment. "See you later," she replied, closing the door behind her.
