The Fort was imposing and formidible, but it seemed rough around the edges, as if built very fast. They walked quietly, keeping their eyes open.
She frowned, running her fingers through his hair gently. "You stayed asleep through the eggs and the Cheerios, but this is what made you wake up?"
He kissed her forehead lightly, his hand moving to rest on her waist as he pulled her closer.
"We'll just walk around the perimeter for now," Ky said quietly. "Be careful."
She raised one eyebrow. "Sariel? You awake?"
He settled next to her, leaning down and kissing her deeply again.
They approached the edge of the Fort. It was huge, by far the largest structure she would have seen, but it was tall and dark and silent.
"Aw. Sleepy baby," she cooed, reaching over and brushing back Sariel's hair.
He was watching her intensely, his hand on the side of her jaw. "I love you..."

She looked down at Sariel, a frown on her face. "Damn, he sleeps deeply."
His hand came to rest on her jaw instinctively, and he kissed her back easily.
He looked over his shoulder momentarily before pulling a bag over his shoulder. "Right, then. Let's go."
"Uh huh," she said skeptically, leaning into his side and kissing his cheek gently. "Sure."
He leaned down and kissed her cheek obligingly.
"We'd have to be careful," he mused thoughtfully, considering her. "It's almost dark."
She huffed in amused annoyance, reaching out and pushing his hair back affectionately. "Well, then what were you thinking?"
"Whenever," he said with a shrug. "I'm yours."
He frowned thoughtfully, coming back over to the forge and pulling down an old, worn battle ax and strapping it to his back. "If you wanted," he...
