"I'd kiss you again in an instant," she said quietly before shrugging with mock despair. "But I suppose it can't be."

"Hm. Well, regardless, Aspen, I'll do what I can to help you. I don't really know what that's worth, though."
"I'm a bold girl," she repeated nonchalantly, resting her head on her hand. "But you already knew that, didn't you?"
"This seems wrong."
"Why him? How do you even know him?"
There was a small pause as she considered him, her eyes narrowed, but her expression softened and he would feel her gently kiss the palm of his hand.
He followed after he finished cleaning the dish, looking concerned.
He frowned. "August... the guy who died, like, six months ago?"
Her laughter was warm and light and she raised one eyebrow innocently. "What? Warner, I'm just talking about the one-on-one time we'll partake...
