She shifted awake blearily, still in her outfit from the night before.

Addie was asleep the next morning, her head in the curve of Sariel's neck.
They joined the rest of the softly glowing lanterns, going up into the navy sky. She rested her head on his heart, listening quietly.

She beamed, kissing his cheek before letting hers go.
He laughed slightly. "Carrier pigeons?"

"Not true," she confirmed, looking up at the stars. A cheer rose up from the crowd, uncertain where it came from, and lanterns began to rise,...

She ran her fingers through his hair slowly. "Try to sleep, okay? You'll feel better in the morning."
