She raised an eyebrow, leaning against the doorframe. "Is this because I didn't keep dancing with you last night?"
"My leg," she said hotly, "is asleep."
"She can take care of herself, but I still worry."
She frowned, folding her arms defensively. "Because I wanted to see you. Is that okay?"
She sighed, slipping her hand in his, limping dramatically as she walked.
"I hope Aubrey is doing okay," he mused, leaning back in his chair.
She blinked, looking up at him. "Hey."
She frowned, rubbing her eyes sleepily. "They wouldn't notice."
He took it, kissing the back of it as he gazed out across the lawn. "I wonder how everyone is doing back in Edolier."
* * * That evening, Addie knocked on Warner's door.
She huffed, taking his hand. "My wings are also asleep."
"We really lucked out, huh?"
She rubbed his head before heading to the door. "I gotta go practice. Do you wanna come with?"
She stretched before taking his hand and standing up, stumbling blearily. “My leg is asleep,” she complained.
He looked over at her before pointing out to the lawn. “Fireflies.”
“Okay. You don’t have to.”
