He frowned, looking down at her. "What did I do?"
Everything was peaceful. August's head rested on her shoulder.
She flushed slightly, looking embarrassed. "...hm."
He laughed slightly, intertwining his fingers with hers. "I love you too."
August was stretched out next to her, his long arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her close to him for comfort.
She paused, her hand coming up to rest on his jaw in surprise as she kissed him back.
"No, I mean you're wasting it on me. That's all I meant."
He caught her hand and kissed her palm, holding it gently between his fingers.

She nodded and began to cook.
