Her space was calmer than his, but inviting and familiar. After a few minutes, Eden's eyes opened and she checked the clock. "Oh. Well......
"Okay, have fun."
He raised an eyebrow. "Huh. Okay."
"She'll never die."
The warmth in his chest grew as he explored, almost feeling like it did when Eden kissed him.
He reached over and brushed her hair back. "I love you too."
"We already do that."
"Because I can't have you both at the same time."
The nudge in his consciousness shifted slightly, exploring his brain hesitantly.
"Well, I'm glad to hear that."
"We know this place better than you. Eli was just messing with you, but I don't want you going out there by yourself," he said, coming up to her.
"Yeah."
She nodded, pulling her hair back with one hand before closing her eyes again.
"That so?"
"No," August replied staunchly. "You're going to get hurt."
"That's kinda sad."
She watched him as the rest of the class began chattering, her eyes bright and her cheeks pink. "Up to you, I guess," she said after a moment.
