The door rang as Tuck entered, ducking so as to not hit his head on the doorframe.
"See? He did."
There was another long silence before he sighed, wiping his wet hands on a dishcloth and turning to face her. "I killed them."

"Sariel? Hush. He did."
He considered her for a long moment, his brows furrowing. There was a silence. "I don't think you want to know, Aspen."

"Hush. He did."
"Which people?"

He kissed the top of her head. "We already said that part."
He looked up at her, one brow raised. "What's up?"
He gave her a boyish grin. "See ya, Avice," he said, and with that, he took off.
"Because he told me so."
"It'll be fun, trust me."
His face became closed off and he focused on cleaning the pan, pretending like he hadn't heard her.
"Well... until next time," he said, getting up on Mack.
"Zad doesn't care about me," she said absently, regarding the trees.
He draped an arm over her shoulder. "Are you nervous?"
