He took her hand and they got to the front of the line. He paid for their car and they got in.
"We could go try and find an owl tonight again," he suggested.
He glanced over his shoulder, looking back towards the path. "I should probably head back... I don't want Aubrey to get any ideas."
"Right."
"No. That's good, then."
"You can sleep more, if you'd like. I'm going to finish cleaning up."
He fed Mack as well, gently patting the horse's snout.
"Fool me twice, shame on me."
"You're not scared of heights, are you?"
"Good! Do you want any more?"
He offered one of the carrots to Avice.
"Nah," she said affectionately. "You know the saying.... 'Fool me once...'"
"Yeah," he said enthusiastically. "Cool, huh?"
"Did the griddlecakes make you feel sick?" he asked, concerned.
"I can tell Warner is actually concerned for my wellbeing," she said easily, ruffling Warner's hair. "Look at how much he cares!"
"It's called a Ferris Wheel," he explained, leading her down the street.
He headed straight to the horses, yawning tiredly.
“Aspen?” he called as he washed the dishes. “You okay?”
