He was silent for a moment before turning, grabbing August’s arm, and leading him into the forest.
"Are you lying to me?"
"You could choose a different name, if you wanted."
"Because he opened the *squee!*ing door!"
He stared her down, his eyes glittering in the dim moonlight.
"Are you hungry?"
"So, it's agreed?"
"I'm great," she said, heading down the hall to look for a mop. "I just gotta find something to kill Warner with."
He stepped closer, tilting his head. "Get the *squee!* back to the cave, Aspen, or I swear to God..."
"I think it's a nice place to start."
"Right."
She raised an eyebrow, looking over at him. "What?"
There was a silence and Eli studied her, his gaze sharp. He was completely still, but Aspen would know him well enough at this point to recognize...
"Are you hungry at all?"
"Aubrey? She arranged this, right?"
"Good luck with that," she said, her expression indicating absolutely no amusement. "I'm going to go find a way to clean this up."
Eli turned immediately, unsheathing his knife and advancing as a reflex. He paused when he saw Aspen. "...Price?"
He took her hand, leading her towards the door.
