He considered her. "How much could you run with, Price?"
"Are you sure?"
She rolled her eyes, looking up at the sky. "I think we lost Warner," she said regretfully. "I wanted you guys to become friends."
"Yeah. Let's go. Can you run? Not for long, right?"
He looked back at her. "I can get those, Av. I'm just going to get them ready for bed."
"I think that's wishful thinking."
He offered her wood stack to her, shifting under the weight.
Jack laughed, following them.
"Uh huh. What am I thinking right now?"
The sun was blinding as it was going over the horizon. "Here, give me the wood and close the lock, okay?"
Sawyer cackled at this new development.
She eyed him, playfully annoyed. "It's fine, I suppose."
"Mm. Hurry. We don't want to be caught right now."
"Leaving in a huff!" she called back.
"I don't believe it. I think he's just saying that to cover his tracks. It's really annoying that you can basically read my thoughts."
She would feel him tap her nose before light streamed in. He was back by the entrance, holding the door open with a ton of timber in his arms.
She huffed playfully, picking up her coloring and leaving the table.
"Zad tried to kill me yesterday," she teased. "He dropped me from 20 feet in the air. So much for keeping me safe, huh?"
"Years of practice," he replied, sounding like he was right by her ear. He set a small stack of lumber in her arms.
