She hugged him, evidently delighted. "Mama really missed you. She kept cryin' in the bed when she thought we were asleep."
"It smells good."
She frowned, sitting up on one of the file cabinets. "I think this might be one I'll do."
He shifted, stretching slightly.
"I drew lotsa pictures. How are you?"
"I love you too, silly thing."
She brushed his hair back as they opened their files again.
He was fast asleep the next morning.
"I missed you," she said brightly.
She huffed, kissing his cheek.

She crawled up next to him, hugging him deeply. "You're back!"
She let go, pulling away.
"Mmhm."
He paused, eyeing her thoughtfully before pulling her close and kissing her.
Diana was standing in front of him, and her face broke into a grin. "Dad!"
