"You can go see the babies," she said angrily. "You didn't do anything wrong. I did. You can go back home and see them again."
"Te'ukei rez," he replied quietly.
"You can't hide from me."
"Yeah, you should," he agreed, rubbing her shoulder. "It's cold and Sawyer and I miss you guys."
"But somebody could have," she said, looking towards the door.
"Well, at least you're honest," he said smoothly, pulling her into his arms.
"No. You can't make me."
He smiled, resting his head on her shoulder, his curly hair tickling her neck. "Hey, you."
She looked up at him, evidently surprised. "But... Francis, I did a really bad thing... I really messed up!"
"You can't even deny it," he said, raising one eyebrow as he rested his head on her shoulder.
"You're. So. Cute." she said, kissing him in between words.
"Will he be back?" she asked. The door creaked open and Jack stepped out to the porch, looking sleepy.
"I should go to jail!" she said, running her fingers through her hair. "I committed a crime!"
"Yes, you did."
Her fingers slid through his hair and she laughed slightly. "I love you."
He took off, and Aubrey watched with wide eyes.
"But..." she seemed helpless, looking up at him. "But I did something really, really bad."
"There's no maybe about it."
She laughed slightly, and she slid down to kiss his jaw.
